Story
After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals.

Kind of a grind with this one
Reviewed: 05-29-25
For whatever reason this book felt like a grind to me. Hard to explain why just a bit to much of the same thing. Constantly plotting characters and most the time it all came to be nothing.

Story
Be bright but do not burn. Embrace the shadows but do not live in the darkness. Those are more than just words; they are truth revealed to only the bravest of souls, those who have the power to change the course of history and rewrite a future otherwise etched into Kingfall's flesh itself. But will good finally overcome the storm of evil brewing in the north? Or will the ancient invaders have their pound of flesh? The answers to these questions may surprise both heroes and villains alike.

Honestly not an awful book but for a 3 and a half book series build up to have an ending like that was very anticlimactic for me. Love the narrator.

Have loved these books since I first read The Cycle of Arawn and got to know Dante and Blays the best bromance ever! I truly hope this isn't the last we see of them. I think these books capture exactly how a hero would be. Power hungry, unforgiving to people that get in their way but also very considerate to their responsibilities to their people and protecting them. These books were the hero is just solely good all the time and does no wrong is just in my mind not realistic. I will keep hopping that another idea for Dante and Blays springs to your mind Edward Robertson.

Since then, he has built cities and mighty armies, invented new enchantments, and pioneered entirely new fields of magic. Now that the Witch Queen of Darkfaller has taken over one of the most powerful castles in the center of the kingdom, he has to marshal all his resources—political, military, and arcane—to try to drive her from the strategic and symbolically important stronghold.

Love the series but this book very Meh…..
Reviewed: 06-19-24
Have loved pretty much every part of this series. But this book was a grind to listen to. Book 16 and nothing has really been solved or concluded. Saying this series has been dragged out is an understatement. I hope book 17 starts wrapping all these story lines up cause it’s getting a bit ridiculous.

Left me feeling Meh.
Reviewed: 06-11-24
I admit I enjoyed parts of this book. Mainly every character except the main character Sabel. Her character and the way the author wrote her drove me crazy. I felt like this book was way longer than it needed to be with how many pointless events and conversations happen and the result of those events or conversations. In my opinion, nothing good happened. The end of the book was everything Sabel and Reese talked about throughout the entire book about what they didn't want. Especially Sabel she went from one handcuff to the next while telling everyone how much she wishes for freedom. Then to end it with her handcuffing herself more than ever? Maybe I just don't get it. I loved the first like half of the book. 5 stars for that! But the last half fell short in my opinion. Felt very much like a Child's story would be.

Most boring book I’ve ever listened to. Don’t understand the hype.
Reviewed: 01-09-24
This book is one of the most boring books I’ve ever chosen to listen to. I’ll tell you I have over 200 books in my audible app so I’ve listened to many of them. This book is considered by many from what I’ve seen to be a great book series that I just must not understand. Nothing is compelling or intriguing about this book. It was a constant struggle to keep myself interested in all the constant different and needlessly confusing dialogue from these unlikable characters. Nothing about this book series is good or entertaining.

Ok book. Felt very rushed
Reviewed: 06-13-23
This is the type of book in my opinion that could have been something close to the lord of the rings. There was so much going on in this book that I really had a hard time following some of it especially with how often it jumped from character to character. I had to go back a lot. Overall was a great book with a great story that just unfortunately was smashed into one book. Ya know when your nearing the end of an audible book and there’s 90 minutes left and they haven’t even come close to the final battle that the ending would be rushed. And it was most reviews I’ve seen say the same thing.

Great book series
Reviewed: 03-15-23
Honestly, I’ve listened to hundreds of books and this series has by far my two favorite characters. Next to the cycle of galand with Dante and Blays the bromance between Wax and Wayne is what makes this book series so good. Great writing on the part of the author one of my all time favorites. This book I will say felt very forced however. At first I was supper annoyed how it felt like a rinse and repeat from all the other books in the series but as it went on it slowly changed my mind. Not the best one in the series but the character growth in this one is what made it so good. To bad my favorite character had to be the Hero! Best line ever “Ain’t no fella who regretted giving one extra shake but you can bet every guy has regretted giving one to few” Wayne.
