About this listen

Sable just wants an escape from the corner of the world she's trapped in, but what lies outside is far more dangerous…

Sable would do anything to break free from the ruthless gang boss she's indebted to before he corrupts her younger sister or discovers Sable's magical ability to sense the truth in people's words.

In a last desperate attempt at freedom, Sable stumbles into unexpected help—Atticus, the famous playwright, and his traveling theater troupe. Far more than a means of escape, the mismatched band of actors is destined to become the family Sable never knew she wanted. They help awaken her magic until she becomes the burning symbol of truth that the entire land needs.

As war looms and corruption eats away at the halls of power, Sable's ability to sense—and share—the truth may be the only thing that can save them all.

The Keeper Origins is a complete epic fantasy trilogy with rich characters and a delightfully optimistic flavor that stays just on the right side of epic with all the cozy feels. It includes all three books:

Dragon's Reach Sable's rise from a trapped, indebted thief to an actress with words strong enough to change a city.

Raven's Ruin—Embroiled in the politics and scheming of the priories, Sable finds herself drawn to the rebels who fight against them.

Phoenix Rising—With war on the doorstep, Sable and the troupe struggle to keep the foreign Empire from conquering and the corruption in the priories from destroying them from within.

This is the first story I've read from JA Andrews and it will definitely not be the last! She weaves a complex, dense, rich tapestry that draws you in from the very beginning through the very satisfying climatic end. Her characters are so real, I found myself dreaming about them as I was reading/listening to the story. I bought both the boxes set on Audible and borrowed the books on Kindle so I was able to switch back and forth depending on what I was doing. I wish I had a kobold like Pernicious. :-)

Love, love, loved it!

I laughed! I cried! I was on the edge of my seat so many times! I listened to this way too late at night, but it was so worth it! This is one of my favorite series ever, and that is saying something, as I have hundreds of audio books in my library.
The writing was the best! So often, fantasy books have a tendency to get a bit... verbose. But, these books all flowed so smoothly that I listened to all three in one week, and I did not want it to end! The story was exciting, entrancing, and the characters were so well-developed that they seriously felt like old friends by the time it ended. The world building was great (I seriously want to live in the keyhole valley!), and the plot was well drawn with excellent pacing. The nuances of her writing just blew me away, with so many memorable moments that I can't pick just one to recount.
Kate Reading has been one of my top four favorite narrators for a very long time. Her range and acting chops really shine in this series, with (by my count) close to 30 main voices to keep track of! I could have listened for many more days, and I know that I will come back to this performance again and again!
Please, please give this excellent series a listen! It's so worth the time!

One of my all-time favorites series of all time!

I don't say that lightly. I've read many, many books, and few are this good. This series is on par with The Inheritance Cycle, Wheel of Time, and so many others, The Keeper Chronicles were good, but this is great. Her style matured and is so unique, I love it. The tone of these books is amazing. You can see, feel, and hear Sables journey the whole way. I won't spoil anything, though. It's thought-provoking, making you laugh, cry, and get mad all at once. I honestly don't know what else to say, but Read IT! JA has officially become one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait for her to write more. I'll even go so far as to say that she goes down in history as one of the greatest. George R.R. Martin and Patrick Rothfuss can't hold a candle to her... she finished her series!

On par with the greats!

The Story Lune

I have read so many books recently with sub par characters and mediocre plot. This was so good, she developed a beautiful love story but never made that all that the characters were, it was beautifully done.

While the story was enjoyable, I was more impressed with Kate Reading. I have heard her a few times and already knew that she is a good reader. I did not realize how good. The other times I heard her was as a team with others reading. I loved this performance. Personally though, Pernicious should have been the main character. I will miss that kobold!

Worth the read!

This is one of the best book series I’ve listened to in a long time. It was entertaining and made me want to get to the next chapter to see what happens next. The author understands loss, fear and feelings. Contains beautifully descriptive writing. The characters are not perfect but have typical human flaws and are nicely complicated. I enjoyed it as much as the Keeper Chronicles and will be waiting for more.

Entertaining and thoughtful

Something is wrong with this file. Errors starting, frequent resets to the beginning. The story is ok but the MC coupled with the errors are just too annoying to continue.
