Story
When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

Story
They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart. Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

First half was good…overall disappointed
Reviewed: 05-23-22
This is a very long book but one of the only ones that kept my attention… Mostly. The first half of this book roughly, was fantastic! It built in itself beautifully. The character grew in personality and in magical capabilities and new characters were introduced and the story moved along wonderfully.
About halfway, the character changes worlds and to me, it got very confusing on characters and plot. The whole story just slow down and I honestly had a hard time staying focused and I was not able to finish the book. I wish they had made a 10 or 11 hour book which is still plenty of time. They could’ve had a nice ending with some conflict and resolution and ended it there and it would’ve been one of my all-time favorite books. Disappointed overall, it was potentially going to be in my top 5 to 10 favorite books.
Narration is great!
