Publisher's summary

Stephen Fry brings the richness of these magical stories to life in the original British recordings, available for the first time in the United States and Canada.

Turning the envelope over, his hand trembling, Harry saw a purple wax seal bearing a coat of arms: a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake surrounding a large letter 'H'.

Treat your ears to a performance so rich and captivating you'll imagine yourself in the halls of Hogwarts. Wherever you listen, the unmistakable voice of Stephen Fry is guaranteed to guide you ever more deeply into this magical story and transport you to the heart of the adventure.

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Theme music composed by James Hannigan.

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

The Only Way to Listen to Harry Potter

Stephen Fry’s voice is like butter. Alan Dale’s narration is fine, but nothing compares with Fry’s classic performance of these classic books. I’m so glad Audible has finally made them available!

the best fantasy series in a hundred years

Outstanding, one of the best series all time. The books outshine the movies - cannot recommend them enough! Stephen Fry's narration is the best I've ever experienced! SO glad these were finally added to Audible!

What a narration

I must say I have listened to the Harry Potter books many times originally I started off in YouTube with certain narrators it would pop up people who would pirate the books and then I moved on the gym Dale because that was the only version available in the United States where I live and while Jim Dale is amazing There are some things in his performance that are lacking and now with this version I’ve been looking for this for years, trying to find a way to get it maybe even pirates it whatever I had to do I must say Stephen Fry is the man. This is the best narration I’ve heard of Harry Potter and it brought the store to life in a way that I didn’t think possible I will say this, if you are arguing between without a doubt, Jim Dale is amazing but Stephen Fry better and now I am moving onto the next novel in the series

It’s not Jim Dale

It’s a perfectly fine narration but I much prefer Jim Dale’s performance. A lot of the voices are far too similar and lack the character’s personal histories that would shape the way they speak. Most every character sounds as though the were down for Eton.

Steven Fry is Awesome!

Nothing to dislike. Steven Fry’s voice captured the characters perfectly. These are amazing recordings and are the only ones that follow the books exactly word for word. Absolutely Superb!!!

Top Notch Performance

Stephen Frye's reading was excellent. Really brought a great story to life. Definitely worth listening to even if you have read the books many times, seen the movies, and even listened to the original audio book.
