Story
I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out...and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: The Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of....

The story was unique, but the writing is a little elementary. The narrator is a weird choice. She sounds old and the characters are not.

Story
Naomi Shaw used to believe in magic. Twenty-two years ago, she and her two best friends, Cassidy and Olivia, spent the summer roaming the woods, imagining a world of ceremony and wonder. They called it the Goddess Game. The summer ended suddenly when Naomi was attacked. Miraculously, she survived her seventeen stab wounds and lived to identify the man who had hurt her. The girls’ testimony put away a serial killer, wanted for murdering six women. They were heroes.

The narrator sounds like she’s trying to be sexy. The story was twisty, a little elementary in writing at times. Not bad, not awesome.

In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. TERRIBLE narrator. Reads like he’s reading a book to a 2 year old. Writing is written like a third grader. Why are there great reviews?! I couldn’t even get past the first few chapters. Nails on a chalkboard!

The story itself is interesting, but the narrator’s reading of the characters is annoying. Especially one of the female characters - she makes her have a sexual voice for no reason. There’s also inappropriate sexual suggestion between two sisters. It’s not a must read.

This story had potential, but it was pointless. There’s no climax. It reads like someone’s life story, not a book with a beginning, climax and end. It makes no sense. Not worth a listen.

Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

The story itself is strange, unique and disturbing. The characters can become confusing due to similar names. Twisty, cautionary and creepy. The performance is pretty good, although one of the accents is not accurate, which was confusing. I recommend this book.

Imagine that you live on a picturesque communal garden square, an oasis in urban London where your children run free, in and out of other people's houses. You've known your neighbors for years and you trust them. Implicitly. You think your children are safe. But are they really? On a midsummer night, as a festive neighborhood party is taking place, preteen Pip discovers her 13-year-old sister Grace lying unconscious and bloody in a hidden corner of a lush rose garden. What really happened to her?

Story
Ava only left her daughter in the pushchair for five minutes. The buckle was fastened, and she was sure it was safe. But when she came downstairs, the door was open and Abi was gone - she walked down the road, past the Lovegoods' house, and was never seen again. A year later, the Lovegoods throw a housewarming party, showing off the results of their renovation. Ava doesn’t want to go. She can’t bear to look down that end of the road, to see the place where Abi vanished, and she doesn’t want to spend time with people who don’t share her grief.
