The premise was good - a young lady having to survive in her own. But unfortunately, it reads more like a teen romance. The protagonist was shallow and tiresome, always talking about cute boys and how irritated she was. The dialogue didn't seem quite real. Worst was the narrator- everything seemed like question, even the statements.

Fourteen-year-old Greg Dixon is living a nightmare. Attending boarding school outside of Boston, he is separated from his family when a pandemic strikes. The story was good, entertaining, but as I've read in other reviews, a little too convenient for everyone who lives. Also, what about an ending resolution? Peter going back for survivors layer or not?

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Story
It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

Reviewed: 09-09-22
This novel is very tongue in cheek, so don't expect a serious survival novel/apocalypse foray. Some parts work, such as the author's descriptions and his action sequences. The dialogue, however, is too over the top. The interactions don't sound real and are often forced. The story was compelling enough for pop fiction, but I can't say I'd readily recommend this book to anyone.

good book about practice and mind over matter

Overall this book was fantastic. Ryan has a good grasp on developing habits and the internal struggle we all have when trying to improve. I would have given this 5 stars, but the parts of the book talking about Chakras and the lack of scientific resource information was a little bothersome. For me it is not enough to say that Harvard did a study and proved 98 percent of people's feelings come from X. Explain the study. tell me what was measured. Giving an idea about more than simply providing percentages. That aside, Ryan does a wonderful job outlining practices that have worked for him and others. I would recommend this book.

All the stories in this collection from Stephen King are related to the Vietnam War. King fans will recognize echoes of The Dark Tower series in the collection's first story, "Low Men in Yellow Coats." As the characters develop over the next four stories, King's version of the Vietnam War becomes one of his most frightening tales ever.
