About this listen

In a world teetering on the brink of collapse, a group of survivors learns the cost of survival - and the value of fighting for something even after losing everything.

Craig DiLouie's apocalyptic zombie series The Infection is now available as an omnibus. In this classic trilogy, a mysterious disease strikes millions and drives them to attack, overpower, and infect. Others continue to mutate, becoming horrific monsters.

In a dying America, survivors ranging from soldiers to scientists to average people struggle on the razor's edge of survival. Each must ultimately choose how far they’ll go to survive and what they’re willing to lose to save humanity. This is a brutal vision of the apocalypse like no other. Will humanity survive the end of days?

Includes The Infection, The Killing Floor, and The Final Cut.

For an Infection story, it was….different

It’s a pretty unique take on the whole infection-zombie storyline. The ending isn’t my favorite, but overall it’s a good book.

What a gem!

Don't miss this trilogy. It's one of the best in the genre. Fresh and different. I loved every moment. Well done to Mr DiLouie and the narrator.

Great story line

I really like world war Z so this book was suggested to me. I loved this book and the story line. The performance of the narrator was pretty good too. I’m genuinely sad the book is over but thought it was all tied up well!

Slow build to a good story

The first book seems like it’s written by someone spending way too much time playing Left4Dead, but stick with it to the bridge as it really starts to come together from there on in some neat ways.

Surprisingly Satisfying

I was hesitant to buy the Omnibus but I’m glad I did. It’s hard to imagine that civilization can fail and fall and rise again over the span of a “summer vacation,” but it did. The subsequent 3yr and 10yr jumps felt like strange warnings that should be applied to the real world. Bottom line, the story was interesting enough, but the ending is making me think about my reality. Recommended. (As for the reader, he was ok. Not extremely versatile when switching his voice from male to female, young to old, or caucasian to minority, but it worked well enough. He did a good job, nonetheless.)

Good story good characters. Good ending

This started out slow for me because it read more like a book at first. However after I got through the first couple of chapters, I couldn't wait to see what would happen with all the characters. Ending was good, the conclusion of the story was just right.

The evolving characters

I have to admit it was a slow start to me, but once it got going it was pretty easy to become lost in their world! I liked the narration…which is extremely important to me. Definitely a must for apocalyptic story lovers!

Different

Overall, this story was fine. I did appreciate that it wasn’t only growling predictable, zombies and zombie behavior. However, I never really felt like I knew the characters and none of them stood out as particularly special. The story took a lot of different directions and seemed disjointed at times. it did not flow well to me. Fortunately, the narrator did his best to keep it from getting to monotonous and keep it engaging. I bought the three pack series for one credit. There is not enough substance to justify giving up a credit on any just one of the three books.

Fantastic. Goes in directions you won't expect.

Hooked the entire way through. So glad I gave this series a chance. Went in a lot of directions I did not expect.
