So now I have found the perfect formula. Joy Nash is the perfect narrator for Penny Reid books. Only Joy Nash and Sébastien should narrate Penny Reid books. They make listening enjoyable

I must say that I usually enjoy Penny Reid Writing, with the exception of this book. I had a difficult time finishing this book. First while the narrator was a cringe worthy, the Elizabeth was, gosh where do I begin with her. She then takes the high horse about women wrestling in jello when planning to hookup with a person she does not like. Then as a health care professional I must say that Elizabeth and her hospital can only exist in a fictional world. Who would put their career, four years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, hundred of thousands of dollars in student loans for stupid practical jokes. Elizabeth was the embodiment of bratty teenager trap in an adult body.
I just cannot believe the Beta readers miss so mush flaws in this book.

this might be a good booh/series but I just couldn't bring myself to listen pass chapter 2. Alexa would have done a better job narrating.

Well guess by being twins they share dumbassness. (special word for well special people) okay the only redeeming part is the Earth quakes mistery. Hoping the other books in this series are a little better. Not hard to do at this point. Thank God I did not use my credit on these books

It was a little difficult getting over to the negative stereotypes, but I guess the author felt it was needed for a backdrop. Yes, Hati is a third world country but not everyone is a criminal, and the entire country is not a ghetto. Voodoo is a religion neither good nor bad. The overall story line was interested to say the least and for once the heroine was strong, brilliant, and did not act crazy. With the exception listed a the beginning of my review, this was a very good story. For once a multicultural story was found under the multicultural heading.

this would have been a great book if the author did not keep repeating the same phrase over and over again. it seems like repeating herself is a way to lengthen the book. I don't think listeners have such a short attention span that we have to rehash how much he love his family and did not want a mate.

This was a really difficult book to listen to. while the narrator was great. the story was not. 90% of the story was Jasmine lamenting on why she should not love. after the first ten times, we got it now move on. even though book one was okay. I think I am not going to waste time with the rest of this series.
