About this listen

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Finney: 1) She suffers from severe sarcastic syndrome, especially when she's unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her like Nico Manganiello, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Elizabeth Finney is almost always right about everything: the musical merits of boy bands are undervalued by society, "benefits" with human Ken dolls are better without friendship, and the sun has set on her once-in-a-lifetime chance for true love. But when Elizabeth's plans for benefits without friendship are disarmed by the irritatingly charismatic and chauvinistic Nico Manganiello- her former nemesis- she finds herself struggling to maintain the electric fence around her heart while avoiding electrocution or, worse, falling in love.

Molto romantico!

Painfully romantic, sweet lovely listen. Now, I’m going to learn Italian. Then, I’m going to listen to this one again. 💕

Much too long

Decent story that could’ve been told in 1/2 the time. Did not care for the narration of the Nico character.

love love love this series

Penny Reid is an amazing writer. the buildup of a relationship between characters is written so eloquently like no other author has done. So much I get chills when breakthroughs are made for characters and happiness is found

I love Penny Reid’s stories and characters.

It was hard to put Nico and Elizabeth’s story down! Like Penny’s other books I get wrapped up in the characters lives, cheering them on and worried about them. Sometimes unrequited love is a misunderstanding. I got a few mixed tapes from my husband before we were married, so sweet!
A must read.

Never say ever

The first thing I learn about puppy love is that it happens often in high school. You fall in and out of it often bc it’s teaching you about overcoming obstacles & getting you ready for the real thing. People who don’t have this experience have a difficult time seeing Love/feeling real love. Very happy to have that experience.

Nico was right about girl a and boy a! Elizabeth needed to open her heart but I think nico definitely healed her heart.

Excellent story and performance!

I had a great time while listening this book. Elizabeth was an amazing character and the narrow did an outstanding job bringing her to life. The story was fun, and light and utterly romantic, and I've come to love Penny Reid's writing through this series.

Book 1 was better

I enjoyed book one but book to dragged. The narrator was great but was a little hard when speaking as man... but torture what "he" spoke romantically in Italian. I'm not sure if I'll listen to the next book.

Story good, narration terrible.

I’m a fan of Penny Reid and have read and listened to all her Winston brothers books, all with excellent narrators. I’d had only read the 1st in her knitting in the city series so was looking forward to listening to the rest. But Devra Woodward was truly dreadful as a narrator. She seem to have only 2 voices - totally bored or she’d lost the will to live. In the end, I couldn’t finish the book - very disappointing.

Narration of make lead distracting.

I did not enjoy this book as much as the first in the series. Like others, I would put the voicing of the male lead as a significant problem as I found it distracting and the accent unnecessary. It’s too bad the person doing the epilogue didn’t do the rest of the book.

Enemies or lovers?

He terrorized her childhood and left her feeling humiliated, now he claims that he has loved her all along. Is it really love or just another major prank to terrorize her adulthood. Toss in a psycho stalker and you have drama galore! Great storyline, excellent characters and chemistry so thick you could cut it with a knife make this a must listen book. In fact, I would go so far as to say it is a must listen series. This is the second full book, but 3rd storyline that I have listened to from this series and I am fully hooked! Can't wait to listen and see what comes next!
