Story
The War on Warriors uncovers the deep roots of our dysfunction—a society that has forgotten the men who take risks, cut through red tape, and get their hands dirty. The only kind of men prepared to face the dangers that the Left pretends don’t exist. Unlike issues of education or taxes or crime, this problem doesn’t have a zip code solution. We can’t move away from it. We can’t avoid it. We have only one Pentagon. Either we take it back or surrender it altogether.

So good and I learned a lot!
Reviewed: 12-08-24
I really enjoyed this book and learned so much about the military (and those who control it). My dad was in the US Army Air Force in WWII, so I did know a bit about the kind of men who made up our fighting force. I think it takes a special person to sign up to go half way around the world and fight for the freedoms we enjoy each day without making this sacrifice. Now that Pete Hegseth is being considered for Secretary of Defense, his opinions seem very vital. I believe he would be a new kind of leader.....one who has recently been in war and can relate to the challenges and hardships involved. Pete is a good narrator and I can feel his love of country in his words and voice. I can also feel his love for his five sons and this gives him a very important perspective. I highly recommend this audio book.

Story
Jean McConville's abduction was one of the most notorious episodes of the vicious conflict known as The Troubles. Everyone in the neighborhood knew the I.R.A. was responsible. But in a climate of fear and paranoia, no one would speak of it. In 2003, five years after an accord brought an uneasy peace to Northern Ireland, a set of human bones was discovered on a beach. McConville's children knew it was their mother when they were told a blue safety pin was attached to the dress--with so many kids, she had always kept it handy for diapers or ripped clothes.

What a story, wonderful research, great narrator

I learned so much and enjoyed the wonderful Irish accent of this narrator. The kidnapping and disappearance of Jean, mother of ten children, is just a small part of the story. This is a thrilling true crime story and a real history lesson of Northern Ireland combined. It is sometimes overwhelming.....as it covers many decades and has dozens of characters. It is an unforgettable story.

I am nervous when starting a new Terminal List book.......can this author live up to the high standards set by the other books???? YES!! This is another A++++ story about James Reece, and what an ending. 15 hours, 28 minutes, and I hated to reach the end, but could not slow myself down. The tie ins to current events, the narration, all are perfect. Thank you, Jack Carr! Thank you, Ray Porter! I can't wait for the next book, but in the meantime I will be listening to several of his books again.

Story
When a rogue military faction in China kidnaps a CIA case officer, global tensions ignite. Desperate to forestall the looming firestorm, the United States deploys an elite team of Navy SEALs to rescue the agent, protected by nothing but their training and a single pilot providing air cover from his FA-18E Super Hornet—normally, it wouldn’t be enough. But these aren’t normal times…and this is no ordinary pilot.

Story
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

Reviewed: 10-28-23
Scott Brick does a wonderful job of narrating as always. However, the story is not a thriller in my humble opinion. There is also very little suspense. This seems to be a complicated drawn out story that failed to get me involved. I simply could not care about the story or the characters. Now, I have read and loved all of Lee Child's Reacher novels, but the last ones with Andrew Child just don't seem interesting at all. I don't think I will try another.

Homicide detective Frank Bennett has a new partner - dark, beautiful, coldly efficient Eden Archer. Frank doesn’t know what to make of her, or her brother Eric, who’s also on the police force. Their methods are... unusual. But when a graveyard full of large steel toolboxes filled with body parts is found at the bottom of Sydney harbor, unusual is the least of their worries. For Eden and Eric, the case holds chilling links to a scarred childhood - and the murderer who raised them. For Frank, each clue brings him closer to something he’s not sure he wants to face.

A dark tale, not for the faint of heart!

I had finished another mystery series set in Australia and when I came across this one, I sampled it and loved the narrator's voice. The main characters, Archer and Bennett, are flawed and unlovable but the story unfolds in a way that lends depth to their feelings and attitudes. Both of them have suffered in their own lives and are in a day to day struggle to survive. I have now finished the series and wish Candice Fox would add another book or two as I think the characters are evolving and still have a long way to go!

Perhaps I can't let go of my expectations for a follow up to The Passage books. I could never really care about the characters in The Ferryman and the story took twists and turns that made me feel I was suddenly listening/reading another book. I don't want to discourage others, so if you loved Cronin's other books, give this one a chance. I am disappointed and really find it difficult to say where this story went wrong, but the main thing I missed was a connection and understanding of the main characters.

The sixth installment in Terminal List is just as good as the first five and maybe even a bit better! I enjoyed every minute and just wish number seven was on the way. This story combines an action thriller and many aspects of current events around the world. It is hard to stop listening, as I want to know what happens next. Ray Porter has narrated the whole series and is just perfect. He is one on the best narrators around and seems to have the perfect pitch for these books. I saw one review entitled
"Boring." What???? I saw nothing boring in this book and can't imagine how any reader could feel that way. Another reviewer said the story was full of propaganda to make Russia look great and the USA look very bad. I don't understand this one either, as I saw none of that. Maybe these readers reviewed the wrong book???? I highly recommend reading all six books in the series and in order. I think it gives a better understanding of the main character and shows his growth as the story progresses. I can't wait for the next installment. Thank you, Jack Carr, for your service to our country and for writing these exciting novels for us to enjoy!
