Story
One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally. Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year. Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever.

I was very surprised by the “Frankenstein” turn of events that happened in this book. I enjoyed the asylum portion so much as Gran seemed to be helping the world, but she also had a dark secret. The children on the hill seemed to be normal but once they start looking into where their new sister came from it raises a lot of questions about themselves. One bad review I have is that the audio narrator for 13 year old Vi sounded wayyyy younger than 13 and that caught me off guard a few times.

I was skeptical at first because the storyline didn’t grab me, but the reviews were wonderful. The reviews are so true, this book is wonderful!!The amount of times you hear, “Oh Molly” really never gets old because you fall in love with her. Molly is quirky, she is girl you have never met, but wish you could. Molly doesn’t understand social cues which is how she gets tangled into the web of the big hotel murder. Mollys old soul mixed in todays society is just the cup of tea you need.

Trigger Warning for sexual abuse because the book does discuss the nature of sexual abuse throughout.
The audio is beautiful because it is narrated by the author Ashley C. Ford, and let me tell you her voice is smooth and soothing. I read the book knowing nothing about Ashley so I went in blind. She discusses her family dynamic and if you love a loving but complicated mother-daughter duo then you will enjoy this. Ashley faces challenges of her incarcerated father, poverty, first love, heartbreak, body image, and the feeling of wanting to walk away from it all while still being connected to “family”
