Story
Insurrection is in the air in the city of Ankh-Morpork. The Haves and Have-Nots are about to fall out all over again. Captain Sam Vimes of the city's ramshackle Night Watch is used to this. It's enough to drive a man to drink. Well, to drink more. But this time, something is different - the Have-Nots have found the key to a dormant, lethal weapon that even they don't fully understand and they're about to unleash a campaign of terror on the city. Time for Captain Vimes to sober up.

This is a great book to read or listen too, full of funny anecdotes and an interesting spiritual spin! I would recommend reading another book first so you can understand the city that this book is based in! Try reading “Going Postal” also by Terry Pratchett :)

I do not know if this is on porpoise, but the flag on the cover is not the official confederate flag it is the “navy jack” as seen on certain confederate ships. But also the real confederate flag looks quite similar to the Union Jack.

Great potential, not well executed.

This series is great as an audiobook, but many scenes repeat each other. Like Monk calling his assistant early in the morning, her unplugging the phone, and then Julie coming in with another phone in the house. This happens both in “Mr. Monk and the Dirty Cop” and “Mr. Monk and the Two Assistants”.

This performance was great, no stars lost for that but, the book got so into the fact it is from Monk assistants point of view that it gets boring and ties murder with her life which is just sad at this point.

Story
Adrian Monk has journeyed into the realm of the cult science fiction show Beyond Earth, where he meets fans just as obsessive as he is. Monk is at their convention because there may be a killer lurking in the Beyond Earth community: someone in a starship uniform has very publicly gunned down the show's legendary creator, Conrad Stipe. Could a fan be that furious at him for selling out to an exploitative Hollywood producer? Or is there more going on behind the scenes in Stipe's life?

Great book but predictable
Reviewed: 09-27-23
In the last Monk Book, Monk talks about how easy it is to find the killer in an authors book. But the Monk Books are also in a easy to tell way, the book starts with something happening that effects Monk or where he is staying, then he is called in on one case solves it, sees two or more other crime scenes, decides they are connected, the Captain always says that it is “the first time Monk is wrong in a murder”, and then finally Monk finds one more piece of evidence or has a hunch and solves the connected cases.

Story
Monk's house is being fumigated, and he has nowhere to go. Fortunately, his assistant Natalie and her daughter are kind enough to welcome him into their home. Unfortunately, their home is not quite up to Monk's standards of cleanliness and order. But while Monk attempts to arrange his surroundings just so, something else needs to be put straight. The death of a dog at the local firehouse - on the same night as a fatal house fire - has led Monk into a puzzling mystery.

The story and book are great but the lack of narrative difference of voices made it a little hard to listen to still, a solid four stars.

Rivals three?
Reviewed: 07-05-23
Slightly less organized than the rest of the books in the Rivals series and only a tiny bit harder to listen to. If I may make a suggestion for future books, bring back the original Rivals system where there are four main chapters and easy to listen to narration.

Fasten your falx knives and grab the reins of your quadriga: Rivals 2! More Frenemies Who Changed the World is the funniest look at people who benefited the world through their hatred. This audiobook has it all: death beams, chariot races, flaming costumes, ear-munchers, party fleas, and whatever the opposite of epic poetry is.... No fact is too bizarre, no segue too surreal, and no sequitur is too non for this riotous sequel.
