The secret? Return to the basics. They're simple, but they're not easy. But the truth is that more connected, productive, and influential leaders and teammates find long-lasting success not with big flashy changes, but with the accumulated of the little things.

Many people with alcohol use disorder who quit often struggle to maintain their recovery, falling back into addictive behaviors. This cycle can persist for years or even decades. Thus, the primary challenge lies not in quitting drinking but in sustaining recovery. Halfway through *Sustain Your Game* by Alan Stein Jr., I realized it was one of the best resources ever created for preserving the life improvements one has achieved.

Story
Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

Story
Our ability to prevent and reverse these conditions—and feel incredible today—is under our control and simpler than we think. The key is our metabolic function—the most important and least understood factor in our overall health. As Dr. Casey Means explains in this book, nearly every health problem we face can be explained by how well the cells in our body create and use energy. To live free from frustrating symptoms and life-threatening disease, we need our cells to be optimally powered so that they can create “good energy,” the essential fuel that impacts every aspect of our wellbeing.

Story
In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

I never would've bought it otherwise, but I'm so glad I did.
I just recommended 10% Happier to my students.
The best part was the chapter in which Dan Harris goes on a nine-day silent retreat. I laughed throughout it.
If you have anxiety, addiction, or depression, or if you're a human, I highly recommend 10% Happier by Dan Harris.

Story
In The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s.
