This book is an in depth study of a young woman who has trouble loving. It is funny. She is witty. The interesting thing is that one gets the full picture of why with a complex story thrown in. I enjoyed it.

This was a lovely story about a Michigan small town suffering from an economic downturn. The town tries to pull itself up by its boot straps when an opportunity presents itself. The book has enough plot twists and turns that it remains interesting to the end. It is clean enough that a family that can tolerate five kisses can listen to it together. And, seriously, all but one of the characters practices kindness on a regular basis. In other words, the plot does not progress by mean people doing mean things with their social media pages.

I loved this story of a teenage boy who wants to be part of something. And, of course, through the eyes of the wise Lieutenant Leaphorn I am there figuring it out on the rez.

The sassy protagonist in this book has a potty mouth that helps define her character. The sarcastic sister Margaret has hidden talents. Ms. Boyce somehow manages to make it really easy to tell which of the women in the book is talking by the second word. I really enjoyed the book because of that.

I loved the author’s focus on trying to get a soldier to feel his feelings. The result was interesting and made me think more than I ever have about the difficulty of choosing what kind of person to be.

Why did a family so close fall apart? 1 sister wants a few moments of happiness after a four year battle with cancer. Who will help her get to the lake? A truly awesome story about the heart.

A really nice story about a 50 year old woman starting over after getting tired of her husband cheating on her. The book has lots of surprising plot twists and doesn’t spare the shocking moments. Enjoyed it.
