I’m going to rate this book like never before, I loved it! It was slow in all the right places, it was confusing in others and plot twisted like never before!
The story was extremely well thought out to match the end and left readers hanging in all the right places.
The narrator was of course perfect! You can never go wrong listening to his performance.

Story
When Admiral William Halsey selected Destroyer Squadron 21 to lead his victorious ships into Tokyo Bay to accept the Japanese surrender, it was the most battle-hardened US naval squadron of the war. But it was not the squadron of ships that had accumulated such an inspiring résumé; it was the people serving aboard them. Through diaries, personal interviews with survivors, and letters written to and by the crews during the war, preeminent historian of the Pacific theater John Wukovits brings to life the human story of the squadron and its men.

The crew of the ships/boats in the account were basically just kids when they first went to war to protect the USA from Japan.

It is very interesting to read about the lives of these fine crews. We must never forget what these young men did with so little. Some of brave men gave their lives while others gave up their late teen years so we here in the states were able to live free. We are very lucky that some wrote diary’s to ensure what they suffered was not lost to time.

Another well written series

What I like in this series is that it makes the story totally believable. The writer does not make the main “Breed” (sp?) as a Superman that gets shot or stabbed without effecting his ability to carry out his missions. The narrator has a nice even tone in his voice without being monotone. His pauses seems to be just right to carry the story along. Great job!

Under the guidance of James Calvert this nuclear submarine had navigated through polar ice packs, braved atrociously cold conditions, and broken through layers of thick ice to arrive at their destination; the northernmost point of the world. This mission, however, was not just about completing a seemingly impossibly feat of Arctic exploration. It also had huge implications for military strategy during the height of the Cold War.

Story
The devastation of Pearl Harbor and the American victory at Midway were prelude to a greater challenge: rolling back the vast Japanese Pacific empire island by island. This masterful history encompasses the heart of the Pacific War - the period between mid-1942 and mid-1944 - when parallel Allied counteroffensives north and south of the equator washed over Japan's far-flung island empire like a "conquering tide", concluding with Japan's irreversible strategic defeat in the Marianas.

Like many others, my father participated in WW2 as a Merchant Marine and in the US Navy. I chose the US Air Force and OGA to help do my part for my country. With the exception of my daughter, everyone in my family (wife, sister, sister-in-law, son, etc.) all served their country in the military and/or OGA). I highly recommend the military for young adults as a way build a career.

Story
The quiet of a Texas night is shattered by the sounds of screeching brakes, crumpling metal and, most shockingly, rapid gunfire. The auto accident Jack Ryan Jr thought he witnessed turned out to be a professional hit. Jack may be too late to save the victim, but he’ll be damned if he’s going to let the hitters escape justice. He’s got just one lead—a meeting the victim was going to. When Jack shows up instead, he’s drawn into the seedy underbelly of a small Texas town and the cold case of a college student who vanished from its streets.

After downloading a few Tom Clancy books awhile back, I can honestly say that I have re-listened to his books bore than any other authors books. It’s still saddens me every time I think back to hearing to Tom’s death. The best think that came out of that was that his books still come out and are almost as good as when he was alive.
I have no problem stating in my reviews when a book turn out to be crap but I’m pleased to say that none of his books rated less than a 3 out of 5. Most have been 4 out of 5. Hard to please I guess and Tom’s books rarely fail to please.
