About this listen

Deep in the jungle, there is a new apex predator. His name is Breed.

Deep in the Amazon jungle, a tribe has attacked an isolated government outpost. A group of idealistic young volunteers enters the rain forest to prove the tribesmen were provoked. One is killed, and another, Fiadh Connor, goes missing.

Fiadh's father, billionaire Cuchulain Connor, hires Breed to find her. Connor helps Breed get a ride with Brazil's Minister of the Interior who is mounting an expedition to relieve the besieged outpost. He and his entourage will travel up the Amazon on a Navy gunboat with a platoon of Brazilian Marines.

On board the gunboat Nevoa, Breed realizes that no one is what they seem. The suave minister. His gangster henchman. The alcoholic doctor. The competent captain. The professional Marine officer. The beautiful volunteer. They all have something to hide and at least one of them is a killer.

One murder follows another as the Nevoa crawls up the Rio Preto. It soon becomes apparent that Breed is in the crosshairs—someone does not want him to accomplish his mission.

Close Quarters—Book Four in the stunning Breed action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper, and Jack Carr.

What I like in this series is that it makes the story totally believable. The writer does not make the main “Breed” (sp?) as a Superman that gets shot or stabbed without effecting his ability to carry out his missions. The narrator has a nice even tone in his voice without being monotone. His pauses seems to be just right to carry the story along. Great job!

Another well written series

Best book in the series of 4 books, less shooting and violence but most exciting and can‘t stop listening

Excellent listening

This seemed to me very different from the previous three novels and disconnected from them. They are more operator stories that excite my recall of sniper training and experience as a 7208 ground FAC during the summer of Woodstock, 1969. I loved my two years as a transport pilot, gunship pilot, and most of all my four months patrolling in the DMZ and Laos. I enjoyed the jungle in novel four, but there was no river in western Vietnam.

Interesting environment

A "who done it" mystery that didn't support the series. Drawn out ending trying to connect the dots with uncreative clues. Not his best work.

Convoluted mystery

While I enjoyed the series I must say that this book is the best one of the series. Mr. Curtis allowed us to see a more vulnerable Breed as compared to the other books of the series! I hope there will be more books to come.

Well I was sad to see there were no more books in this series. Loved the narrators voice and the story.

Hoping for more

An unusual setting for the special forces operator Breed. The author provides an encyclopedic panorama of the Amazon and it’s amazing diverse ecosystem. Thank you for your research and your writing talent!

An edge of your seat, thriller immersed in an encyclopedic view of the Amazon!
