When Aisling Conroy's boyfriend Jack is found in the freezing black waters of the river Corrib, the police tell her it was suicide. A surgical resident, she throws herself into study and work, trying to forget - until Jack's sister Maude shows up. Maude suspects foul play, and she is determined to prove it. Cormac Reilly is the detective assigned with the re-investigation of a seemingly accidental overdose 20 years ago - the overdose of Jack and Maude's drug-and-alcohol-addled mother. Another win from Sanderson
Reviewed: 12-17-22
I am an old school sci-fi fan of Heinlein and Herbert, but got hooked on the Wheel of Time. The only reason that I read a book of his is because he did an amazing job finishing the WOT. I thoroughly enjoy his Cosmere and how he interplays genuine human experience with a supernatural force. FYI - this is probably the 4th time I have read this series. It's among my top five series that I reread.

Fast paced and imaginative
Reviewed: 12-04-22
This fast paced romp is like potato chips, you can't stop at one. The characters have determination and goals. The plot has twists and turns that I never expected. It was exciting and challenging. I'm an avid sci-fi/fantasy fan and I rate this series as one of my favorites along with Wheel of Time and the Sanderson Cosmere.

Story
Elves were supposed to be gone, defeated in the great war. Magic is practiced behind closed doors, and only by the elites. All I was trying to do was survive, maybe with a bit more curiosity about my master's magic than I should've allowed. He caught me snooping, and sent me on a quest to steal a magic scroll. A quest that would change my life.

Explicit sex scenes!

Very little plot and very graphic sex scenes. One B.J. is longer to read than to happen. Free book and it was not worth my time to read.

So pleasantly surprised!!!!
Reviewed: 03-26-22
I read both the first and second of this series in a weekend and eagerly await the next one.
I haven't read a gay protagonist that I identified with more. I cried for Adam. As an old, straight, white woman raised in a very conservative household, my tears could not have surprised me more.
