About this listen

They are my harvest, and I will reap them all.

Returning to Guthrie, Oklahoma, for the funeral of his mysterious and beloved aunt, Sue, Adam Binder once again finds himself in the path of deadly magic when a dark druid begins to prey on members of Adam’s family. It all seems linked to the death of Adam’s father many years ago - a man who may have somehow survived as a warlock.

Watched by the police, separated from the man who may be the love of his life, compelled to seek the truth about his connection to the druid, Adam learns more about his family and its troubled history than he ever bargained for, and finally comes face-to-face with the warlock he has vowed to stop.

Meanwhile, beyond the Veil of the mortal world, Argent the Queen of Swords and Vic the Reaper undertake a dangerous journey to a secret meeting of the Council of Races...where the sea elves are calling for the destruction of humanity.

Love it!

This book builds off a LOT of events from book 1, White Trash Warlock - so you’ll want to read/listen to that first. Also this review may contain spoilers to the first book.

Rant first: This ends with a cliffhanger. 😩

Outside of that, this was a fantastic listen. I love the world that Slayton has created: Adam & Vic, both of their families, all the magic, mystery, & suspense. While I was hoping for more time with Vic and Adam as a couple - I loved Vic’s trip with Argent. Their banter is fun and they have their own unique friendship. Adam’s return to Oklahoma is bittersweet yet also provides an opportunity to strengthen family bonds. As with the first book, with as many questions are answered even more are uncovered.

I don’t know when the next book will be out, but I’m looking forward to it.

Michael David Axtell’s narration was wonderful again. His accents and voices do a great job of differentiating all the characters. It’s a great listen.

So pleasantly surprised!!!!

I read both the first and second of this series in a weekend and eagerly await the next one.

I haven't read a gay protagonist that I identified with more. I cried for Adam. As an old, straight, white woman raised in a very conservative household, my tears could not have surprised me more.

I can't wait for the next book!

Love this series. I was instantly hooked and I will probably listen to the books again before Deadbeat Druid is released. Can it be October yet?! I need the next book!

good story

I enjoyed the story, ya there were some slow points or strange aspects but overall I enjoyed the trip. however, something did bother me more than it should have. what in the flipping flapjack is a cardboard can? Threw me for a loup the two or three times the orator said it.

cliffhanger ending!

What a strong follow up to White Trash Warlock! David R. Slayton doesn’t disappoint in book two of the Adam Binder series. So glad book 3 is available on Audible.

I’m so invested

The character development is great! At one point I was literally yelling that someone what being an idiot, and that’s always a good sign.
