The story is horrifying. The narration was unparalleled. This book should be required reading for high school lit classes.

This is one of my favorite SK books. King’s narration makes Mike Noonan feel like a real person, not just a bag of bones.

Story
The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

The grandfather’s voice is awful. The grandfather is such a jerk that it took me out of the story. What an a-hole.
I’m still going to get the next book in the series, of course. Because it is a good story.

Story
The battle between good and evil, God and Satan.A fight older than time. But is everything we know about this struggle just a matter of propaganda? Satan, Lucifer, the Devil, Shaytan sure thinks so. In this letter he tries to convince the human race, you, of his intentions. They are pure. Everything that was blamed on him was done as a smokescreen to cover more sinister motives.

It's really quite a novel experience to hear a story from Satan's perspective. I give this book 10/10, would recommend to anyone that isn't the stuffy religious type.

Story
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Golem and the Jinni?
I can't tell you, it'll spoil the story.
Which scene was your favorite?
Again, spoilers.
If you could take any character from The Golem and the Jinni out to dinner, who would it be and why?
The Jinni, hands down. Sarcastic, dark, moody. He's dreamy.

Story
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

This got me right in the feels.
Reviewed: 04-15-16
This story reminded me somewhat of Bag of Bones, one of my top 3 favorite Stephen King books. Not because the plot line was similar (it's not) but because once again King wrote a leading character that is tragic, heroic, and has to do distasteful things for the ultimate good. It's a fantastic story with superb narration. Craig Wasson's Russian and German accents are a bit goofy but his emulation of all the American accents are spot on. Really a wonderful audiobook.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Frankly, I wouldn't recommend this book. The narrator has a whiny quality.
What did you like best about this story?
I love Christopher Moore's witty sarcasm, but the narrator was unbearable.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Susan Bennett?
The narrator of Divergent, Emma Galvin.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Every Christopher Moore book has good qualities, they are laugh out loud funny.
Any additional comments?
I gave up after less than an hour.
