I purchased the audible version of this over a year ago. I have no idea why it has taken me this long to listen to it, but it was amazing from the first chapter all the way until the end! I would love to see what the future holds for the ending.

Story
Leigh Collier has worked hard to build what looks like a normal life. She has a good job as a defense attorney, a daughter doing well in school, and even her divorce is relatively civilized - her life is just as unremarkable as she’d always hoped it would be. But Leigh’s ordinary life masks a childhood that was far from average...a childhood tarnished by secrets, broken by betrayal, and finally torn apart by a devastating act of violence.

this book was fantastic! From the story to the narrator
Reviewed: 03-03-25
Kathleen did a fantastic job with all of the different characters. I love her, and I try to listen to as many books as she narrates as possible. I listened to this book in 2 and 1/2 days. I could not put it down. As a recovering heroin addict I was able to feel to my bones what the young lady was feeling. I was one of the lucky one. It's been 18.5 years since I have touched any mind mood alternating drug! Thank you for this story.

Story
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

There is not one thing that I do not like about this book. The narrator did amazing with all of the different dialects. I could feel the story from beginning to end. I would love for this to become a sequel. Because I want so much more.

Ather than the Marine Force series of fatal and first family... This is in my top three!
Reviewed: 02-08-25
When I was listening to this book I thought maybe this should be the first one. I now see why this is the sequel to the deep deep snow. I really hope that there is a book 3!
I looked to see if there was a book 3 and it looks like he does not have plans on writing one.
The narrator could read me a cook book. She did a fantastic job.

Story
The day I was told I’d never be able to have a child, my world came crashing down. My husband says he still loves me, but I lie awake at night, wishing we could have a family. One morning, my husband’s side of the bed is cold and empty. I hear a noise and head downstairs. In the middle of the rug in my living room is a wooden drawer. Swaddled inside, with perfect rosy cheeks and beautiful round blue eyes, a baby gazes up at me.

Story
When Anna Hartley’s husband, Henry, calls her with a terrible, guilty confession, she can’t believe what she hears. It has to be a bad joke—the mild, predictable artist she married would never hurt a fly, let alone commit murder. But her confusion turns to horror when police find his body washed up on the banks of the Rio Grande.

The narrator was awful!

I couldn't even get past chapter 6. I tried so hard, but there was no way I could do it. I see that she is the person that narrates the rest of the series. I was hoping that it would be something like the Faith McClellan, Morgan Dane, and Bree taggart to name a few.
In order to listen to the book you have to have a good narrator. also, I couldn't figure out who was talking because she did not change voices for characters.
