Some books are not meant for audiobook format

The litrpg genre is full of numbers. Numbers which are often tricky for the transition to audiobook.

This one has paragraph long descriptions regarding individual abilities. It is AGONIZING to read. You will have long. LONG segments where the narrator is just reading vague ability text and the entire time you’re thinking holy sh*t can this END?!?

The narrator is atrocious, a long and steady monotone. But thats okay, because even the best narrator couldn’t save this story.

Do you like horror? Well this story has a bit of it, lurking around specific points without doing much of anything.

Do you like mystery? Well this story has a mystery, one which it cares rather little about. Instead you get to enjoy the slapdash romance between two characters you barely care to remember.

For some idiotic reason, the closest this story gets to a protagonist is the monster. Because out of the 10 hour run time, perhaps 20-25% is devoted to this creature descriptions of it wandering about. Everything else reads like a series of strange romance vignettes, where characters have relationship drama that in no way comes into contact with the overall narrative.

This is my first severely bad review. This book deserved it.

If you like sci-fi set in good ol nowhere texas, this is the story for you. The characters are predictable, but they grow on you, while the sci-fi is always there and always pretty good.

A story of a father looking for revenge, the story is nothing new. But the characters are delightful and inspire some fantastic emotions. Give it a read.

Not a whole lot to say honestly. This book is fun. The story is written well, the story is read well, and the mystery is decent.

This isn’t the book that will change your life and shift how you see the world. It’s good enough for five stars, but it doesn’t make me wish I could select six stars instead like some other books do.

I’m a huge fan of Sigler, and a huge fan of aliens. If you like either of those, buy this audiobook.

Bronze Age humans vs aliens, what’s not to love???

One of the three main characters has the worst voice though. Hands down worst part of the book. Aside from that, great story.

Sigler is a fantastic author, but he really shines in the audiobook department. All of his books are well produced to make the most of the audiobook structure. It’s not just deadpan reading from a book. Sound effects, transitions, etc.

Nocturnal is a delightful horror/supernatural story that feels a little slow at first but picks up steam like a locomotive until you’re tempted to finish the sucker in a single day!

Don’t let the short length turn you off to this story, it’s a lot of fun, with a wide range of different stories. Definitely a great read!

As far as zombie stories go, this is a great one. Particularly books one and two. Book four is by far the weakest entry in the series, feeling meandering and tired. Random raiders show up, a common trope of the zombie genre that just falls flat given how dangerous/powerful Melchiorri’s take on zombies are.

The narrator is great all the way through!

I don’t know where they found him, but Leland King was perfect for this story! His narration and character voice feels accurate, and he feels invested in the lines he delivers.

Jan Stryvant has a great writing style for this genre, if you like urban fantasy -or harem stories- this is a book series for you!
