Loved it but long

I enjoyed the story and the details throughout. I was happy and sad through different parts of the story. It was a little long and at times felt like it dragged on in some parts but overall, a good story.

Good story

I loved the story and finished the book in less than a week. I didn't care for the performance as all of the character voices sounded the same making it difficult at times to determine which character was speaking.

Story
Chicago, 1944. Liz Stephens has little interest in attending a USO club dance with her friends Betty and Julia. She doesn't need a flirtation with a lonely serviceman when she's set to marry her childhood sweetheart. Yet something happens the moment Liz glimpses Morgan McClain. They share only a brief exchange - cut short by the soldier's evident interest in Betty - but Liz can't forget him. Thus, when Betty asks her to ghostwrite a letter to Morgan, stationed overseas, Liz reluctantly agrees.

Good story but performance was lacking

I couldn't wait to read this book but didn't get through the story because some of the voices, especially the male characters, were "off". I'm an avid Audible fan and I couldn't get past the character voices to finish the story. I suggest using a male for the male characters or someone who doesn't sound like a mouse.

Story
Corfu, Greece, 1943. Though they don’t know it, five-year-old Matilde and three-year-old Anna have kissed their mother for the last time. The Nazis have reached their sun-scorched home, and they are being taken to a place of safety, on the northeastern tip of the rocky island. They are to be hidden, at great risk, by kindly Agata and her husband, until the terrible war is over. Matilde and Anna’s tears are soothed by Agata’s bedtime stories, but she is always alert.

I loved the story but it was very long and drawn out. Too many chapters and could have been shortened without losing anything.
