Why change the narrator?!
Reviewed: 03-22-24
Thank God this was the only book Tia Rider narrated. I just re reading the 1st book since it had been a while to finish the series and loved it! Now I remember why I stopped at chapter 4 of this book and never looked back...It is going to be hard, but the only reason I will try to finish this book is because Christa Lewis narrates the last 3 books of the series.

Story
I am Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman. My only “superpowers” are that I turn into a 35 pound coyote and fix Volkswagens. But I have friends in odd places and a pack of werewolves at my back. It looks like I'm going to need them. Centuries ago, the fae dwelt in Underhill - until she locked her doors against them. They left behind their great castles and troves of magical artifacts. They abandoned their prisoners and their pets. Without the fae to mind them, those creatures who remained behind roamed freely through Underhill wreaking havoc. Now one of those prisoners has escaped.

I love this series, BUT!
Reviewed: 01-31-24
I love this series; but the storyline is getting a little difficult to follow. One thing I don't like is how the pack is always mistreating or putting the blame on Mercy because of the ex-wife (she not only left Adam, but she turned her back on the pack too. It's like they blame Mercy for her leaving); she doesn't take up for herself or just tell herself she doesn't care. I really want Mercy to go off on them all and putting them in their place.

Evil comes in many forms. Not all of them are human. They call her the Blue Lady, the harbinger of storms and destruction. For psychic Charlie Payne, is the appearance of the ghost of the Blue Lady signaling just a hurricane? Or devastation from beyond? When Charlie is asked to use her considerable talents to help Deputy Jason Tate with a series of murders, she sees the face of the real assassin in a dream.

I really wanted to finish this series, but the new narrator ruined it for me. The story did not flow smoothly with Gwendolyn Druyor, and she did the characters voices all wrong... Lisa's character sounded like Charlie and Charlie sounded like Lisa from the 1st 4 books.

Story
Daniel Martin has never forgotten his childhood encounters with Frank Watkins, the man who built his family a summer home out of cardboard and plywood. Frank's gaze was oddly confusing, as if he was attempting to discern the proper way to behave because he didn't know how to respond in a human manner. Since Frank obviously wasn't an alien, young Daniel thought maybe the man was crazy. In the end, Daniel would learn the terrifying truth about Frank Watkins. And as an adult, Daniel is about to discover there are more of them out there.

Chris Ciulla sounds like the narrator from The Wonder Years TV show from the 90s. Would be so much better with the right narrator.

A Little Disappointed (with a spoiler)
Reviewed: 10-25-22
I truly thought that Seth's story would be the one to douse the flames of the previous books, I 'm sorry to say that was not the case. I enjoyed the book in the beginning but quickly became very annoyed by Leah's personality. She acted more like an overly dramatic teenager would throughout the book and was not what I expected for the leader of the Immortal Guardians. I understand that Seth had gone thousands of years without female company but there was just too many sex senses in this book for me (I had to fast forward through them). I was also disappointed that she is human...why have Seth suffer all those years after losing his wife and children just to pair him with someone he would lose within decades but Ms. Duvall had something special up her sleeve to change that, but instead of giving Seth a strong wife to help him take better care of himself and help lead the guardians, he was paired with a super hyper child. I think I will take a little back from the Immortal Guardians series and see what's going on with Amy's brother in The Lasaran: Aldebarian Alliance, Book 1.

Story
In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

In my option Vanessa Moyen should only read for children's books. I just can't stand to hear that nasal high pitch rushed voice she uses for the MFC. I have avoid a lot of books that might have been a great story because of the Vanessa Moyen narrating them and she narrates a lot of audible books. ugh!

When Jack escapes the vampires holding him captive, he thinks his biggest worries are finding his friends and avoiding the Savages pursuing him...until he stumbles across Charlie. Charlie wasn’t expecting Jack to fall into her life, but now that he has, she doesn’t know what to do with him. She can’t leave him behind to be hunted, but her growing attraction to him frightens her more than the Savages.

I love the story about Jack, Charlie was a great match for him. The only thing that annoyed me was the narrator, she is the same one from the previous books but she made most of the characters voices sound off. Example Julian and Willow are almost at maturity, but she made them sound like they were Dylan's age.

After I challenged the Blood Council's four shifter heirs at a college party, the last thing I expected was to receive a full scholarship and an admittance letter from the exclusive Wolf Moon Academy. Despite never desiring to be an alpha, this was an opportunity of a lifetime...or so I thought. I soon learned that there was more behind my admission to the Academy than my education. I was there to be a lesson to the heirs - in particular, the sexiest and strongest one, Liam Hale.

The book held my attention from the beginning, but I wish the FMC was a little more stronger and held her ground with the heirs better than she did in the beginning. Liam was a CAPITAL A-HOLE, but once I found out why he was acting awful towards her I started to soften towards him, but I wish she would have made him work harder for it. I love the other characters with the exception of the other 3 heirs, hopefully that will change by the end of the book.
And for the narrator, I normally try to say away from books read by Vanessa Moyen...to me she tends to make all of the FMC sound like whiny brats and way to young for their age, but I was able to get through her narrating this book.
