Story
1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.

My spouse and I so appreciate well written history, whether it is a novel written about actual events or a documentary. BUT, this book starts off pretty light and then will literally take your breath away with the character development. We were shocked to find out it was her FIRST book. Needless to say, if...she writes it, we will read it.

Wonderfully written, gut wrenching to listen to AND we are not Jewish. But, praying history does not repeat itself again in this current "modern" age.

Not as reported. We llove books about Service dogs, all types. This series apparrently actually has basically NOTHING to do with the dogs. It is a nonstop 1950's romance series with prayers being the number one topic every single chapter. So disappointed I can't get my credit back.

Story
The accident came quickly. With no warning. In the dead of night, a precipitous plunge into a freezing river trapped everyone inside the bus. It was then that Army veteran John Reiff’s life came to an end. Extinguished in the sudden rush of frigid water. There was no expectation of survival. None. Let alone waking up beneath blinding hospital lights. Struggling to move, or see, or even breathe. But the doctors assure him that everything is normal. That things will improve. What they haven’t told him… is that he is the first person to be successfully revived from a cryonic sleep.

Such a interesting way to start a new series. We appreciated so much not only the concepts presented, but also the moral conflicts generated by not questioning the ramifcations of choices made.

We love good historical novels that reveal information we may never have known about actual events. This has a very slow start, which we could live with, but quickly went into scenarios that made us feel like we were back in high school instead of the seriousness expected by people suddenly caught up in a war. UGH!!!

It's enough to send Lucy screaming back to Boston, except there's a mystery to solve and Oxford and her new vampire friends are kind of growing on her....
