A WOMAN’S WORLD BEST NEW BOOK

"Heart-breaking, validating, exciting." (Hypable)

"Rich historical detail...this saga has it all." (Woman's World)

Shining a light on a little-known piece of history The Flight Girls is a sweeping portrayal of women's fearlessness, love, and the power of friendship to make us soar.

1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.

To make everything she’s lost count for something, Audrey joins the Women Airforce Service Pilots program. The bonds she forms with her fellow pilots reignite a spark of hope in the face war, and - when James goes missing in action - give Audrey the strength to cross the front lines and fight not only for her country, but for the love she holds so dear.

"Captivated me from the first page and never let go...a powerful tale of courage and sacrifice by the Women Airforce Service Pilots during WWII. A spectacular first novel." (Sara Ackerman, USA TODAY best-selling author of The Lieutenant's Nurse)

Fiction but true - real, raw, and worth the read!

....INCREDIBLE. A flawless work of perfect art about quite possibly the most pivotal moment in modern history. Everything was believable: the characters, the feelings, the situations, the dialogue....... I enjoyed this so much and I love that there were strong brave women back then to rise to such an occasion. And I am so grateful there are women like this author willing to put pen to paper and immortalize them with words so that their legacy can live on. I will never forget this book as long as I live.

Good story but Narration troublesome!

An intriguing tale of heroics and fearlessness during such a dark time in history. Such bravery! The narrator is troublesome though...she tries TOO hard to act casual but actually comes off as artificial, aloof, and disengaging. I had a difficult time relating to the characters—actually, I was too distracted by the narration. It does get better as the story progresses but is overall an unfortunate aspect of this book. A better narrator is befitting for such a great novel :(

captivating!

my curiosity on what was going to happen continued with each chapter and event. vivid descriptions, genuine friendships, playful, and sad! Took me to a time that I never was a part of, but now I understand the importance of women training pilots for the war...the women who were pilots, yet not recognized as serving in the war or as veterans...The Wasps! The story helped me really understand my mother era a bit more.

What an awesome book!

I have a very difficult time getting into a book. It takes something special to really grab my attention and have me get into the story fully. This book has to be the best story I have ever read to date!! I laughed, I cried, I got excited, I got scared, I was happy, I was sad. so much wrapped into one story. I couldn’t put this book down! I honestly cannot remember when I last fell in love with a story so much. I would highly recommend this to anyone and can’t wait to read more books by this author! I hope someday this book can be turned into a movie, not just a little of the story and the rest altered by Hollywood but truly the whole story played out on the big screen! So much emotion and passion put into this! Love love love it!!!

Flight Woman of WWII

This book is amazing! It is about close friendships, family, sadnees and loss. This book works in self growth, dreams, separation of family, close friends, and a little love. You have some veering away from true historical data but there is enough in there for you to feel the emotions that these woman livef through for there country. It showd how important these woman were. It pulls in a little romance, separation and just how courageous these women were. You had your emotions stirred and you felt you were there as these woman got close and then they would lose a close friend. It brings into it the horror of Pearl Harbor, the effects of the war on people. The sad part is the failure of the recognition of these women they never received. The characters are believable and likable. The storyline is interesting. The narration by Xe Sands grabs at you and maintains your interest till the end of the book. I highly recommend this book.

YES YES YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES

Amazing story! Well written- I couldn’t press pause without wanting to know more. I could’ve finished listening to it in a day if I did not have life to keep up with. The narrator is absolutely amazing and spoke in a way that made it easy to depict who was who. The emotion and the gender switch of her voice is incomparable. I found myself acting out the parts subconsciously while listening because of the way it was written and narrated.

So glad my mom recommended it to me. Definitely keeping this one in my library.

Totally enjoyed this story and found it difficult to "put down". Highly recommend to anyone interested in historical fiction that could have been a true story.
