Story
This inspiring, insightful, and often humorous look at the life of Father Stuart Long is told by his close friend, Father Bart Tolleson. After their relationship began and almost ended with a practical joke, the two men were ordained together and forged a strong, lasting friendship. As the exuberant, edgy Father Stu confronted a rare degenerative disease, the former brawler and professional boxer used every ounce of his declining strength to fight the good fight for souls.

Great read: powerful and beautiful story of faith, suffering, and ultimate transformation
Reviewed: 04-12-25
I recently read Father Stu by Fr. Bart Tolleson, who was ordained alongside Father Stu himself. This book goes far beyond the Hollywood portrayal—it offers a deeper, more intimate look at Father Stu’s remarkable journey from brokenness to redemption.
From a Catholic perspective, this story stirred my soul. It reinforced my faith, deepened my love for Jesus Christ, and rekindled my desire for eternal life. The raw honesty, spiritual insight, and emotional depth found in these pages make it a profoundly moving read.
If you’re seeking a powerful and beautiful story of faith, suffering, and ultimate transformation, I highly recommend this book. It’s not just a biography—it’s a testament to the grace of God at work in one man’s life!

Story
Our current definition of “productivity” is broken. It pushes us to treat busyness as a proxy for useful effort, leading to impossibly lengthy task lists and ceaseless meetings. We’re overwhelmed by all we have to do and on the edge of burnout, left to decide between giving into soul-sapping hustle culture or rejecting ambition altogether. But are these really our only choices?

Great overall concepts!

Overall, I loved the three concepts outlined in the book. At times, the storyline drug on too long. And it times it seem like the author was writing his own diary. Yes, I would recommend!

I learned a lot about him that I did not know. Too long!!!
Reviewed: 09-07-24
Overall, a good book. I especially enjoyed learning about his drug use and insecurities throughout his life. I had no idea. He had such a tough upbringing. I think the book could’ve been shorter. I did not want to know every detail about him.

The story drug on towards the end. Possibly too long. Glad I listen to it but at times had to fast-forward.

Story
As the Allies raced to defeat Hitler, four men, all in the same unit, earned medal after medal for battlefield heroism. Maurice “Footsie” Britt, a former professional football player, became the very first American to receive every award for valor in a single war. Michael Daly was a West Point dropout who risked his neck over and over to keep his men alive. Keith Ware would one day become the first and only draftee in history to attain the rank of general before serving in Vietnam. In WWII, Ware owed his life to the finest soldier he ever commanded, a baby-faced Texan named Audie Murphy.

Very good content but story could’ve been much shorter

This book came highly recommended by an expert in that area. I found the concepts important and relatively easy to implement. But the book could have been much shorter in length. Repeats himself several times in the first several chapters.
