I've lived on the Texas Gulf Coast all my life and it is only in recent years that I heard the stories of German attacks off shore. This was an excellent historical storytelling with a redeeming person on forgiveness. Loved it!

Story
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

I loved everything about this book. It was truthful, sincere, vulnerable and enlightening. I don't know that we can advocate for justice without an understanding of what life is REALLY like for the oppressed. This book added to my understanding. To the author, thank you for putting yourself out there!

Story
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

I enjoy Mel Robbins for her insight and wit, her kindness and tough love. This was book was no exception. BUT...the excessive use of the F-bomb was just too much. These were some hard, real life stories. I get that...but some of the language did seem to be less than authentic.
