Story
Most people are fearful of change because they don't have any control over how or when it happens to them. Since change happens either to the individual or by the individual, Dr. Spencer Johnson uses a simple story to show that when it comes to living in a changing world, what matters most is your attitude. Exploring a simple way to take the fear and anxiety out of managing the future, Who Moved My Cheese? can help you discover how to anticipate, acknowledge, and accept change in order to have a positive impact on your job, your relationships, and every aspect of your life.

The story was short and engaging, and it was easy to get the point. And it was a very simple, yet insightful point. Also really enjoyed the interview with the author at the end. I’m grateful I found this book. I feel it will help me be better prepared for change that will surely come.

In an irresistible invitation to lighten up, look around, and live an unscripted life, a Stanford University professor and master of the art of improvisation explains how to adopt the attitudes and techniques used by generations of musicians and actors. These secrets are currently being taught to entrepreneurs, engineers, and first responders in a crisis as well as housewives and Alzheimer caregivers. Let's face it: Life is something we all make up as we go along.

Story
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Incisive critique of blacks’ loyalty to Democratic party
Reviewed: 11-05-20
Candace Owens writes a compelling story of the development of her political and philosophical thought. She clearly loves God, loves the black people, and loves America.
In particular I like her perspective on the dangers of a victim mentality, and how it chains those who espouse it to an insidious bondage. I would love to see more research in this area.
I am considering inviting my liberal friends to do a ‘book exchange’ on race and this would be my pick for the conservative option.
Thank you, Candace. I hope many more people read this book.

Best book on communication and relating I have read!
Reviewed: 05-07-20
I have loved NVC (nonviolent communication), but it hasn’t been easy to put into practice as I’ve understood it. Oren Sofer’s book does an outstanding job of making NVC work naturally, by combining it with presence and intention. I wish all my friends and family would read it so they can benefit like I have! As much of more than interpersonal communication, these principles help me internally avoiding many of the traps that can lead to self criticism, depression, etc.

Story
Most of us think of sales as convincing potential customers to believe or do something they don't really want to. But that cutthroat mentality makes the process much harder than it has to be—especially in an economic downturn, when customers are more suspicious and defensive. It's far more productive (and satisfying) when salespeople think like Go-Givers and focus exclusively on creating value for the customer.

It’s refreshing to look at sales as an opportunity to give. I love how the authors discuss the mutual benefits that come from a life of giving — also recognizing that we must sell our products to someone, but not necessarily the person in front of us.

Our most commonly held formula for success is broken. Conventional wisdom holds that once we succeed, we’ll be happy; that once we get that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. But the science reveals this formula to be backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around.

Story
For most of us, dating is often confusing, frustrating, and frightening. We look for the "right person" in bars, at school, at parties, and on Internet dating sites. But what happens when we find the right partner? 60% of marriages end in divorce, and only 1-2% experience the fulfillment both partners once hoped for.

Practical and Vital Guidance to Be Happy
Reviewed: 11-12-17
Anyone who is dating or who would consider dating in the future would be hugely benefited by this book. I discovered Greg Baer and the ideas of Real Love a week ago. It is already having a significant positive effect in my life. (I read one of his other books in that time, too.) Some people are put off by the supposed marketing of his other materials in this book. However, having seen some videos and read other books, I believe he is saying that to be efficient. He does not repeat all that material in this book. You really would benefit from learning those other materials (such as the original Real Love book) to skillfully apply these principles.
I believe that the application of the principles he teaches here, though simple and in some ways easy (some ways not), provides a key to happiness and success in relationships and life. I am excited to learn and apply more as I go forward, and excited to share this with friends and family.
P.S. He has very insightful and practical guidelines for how to go about finding a partner, and/or whether to stay in your current relationship, and how to end that relationship if you do leave. Plus much more.
