The narration could be improved
Reviewed: 04-12-25
Book was good and not a plot I’ve heard before. The narration was too much like listening to an action movie. I do not need all of the passion in argumentative conversations like the narrators performed in this book, nor do I enjoy it

Story
Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

But it turns out the woods aren’t as easy to navigate as they thought. Hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost. And as they navigate deeper into the woods, the members of their party are struck down mysteriously one by one.

I love Caroline Lee. Her performance is always 5 stars. I never want another book with the male narrator. His voice is so deep that I couldn’t understand him, could barely hear him. His parts were repeated over and over and often given up on. Terrible!
