Story
The top 10 list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face. The Iron Tangle. An impossibly complicated subway system built out of the world's subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down.

Story
In his own time (701-762), Li Bai's poems - shaped by Daoist thought and characterized by their passion, romance, and lust for life - were never given their proper due by the official literary gatekeepers. Nonetheless, his lines rang out on the lips of court entertainers, tavern singers, soldiers, and writers throughout the Tang dynasty. The Banished Immortal is an extraordinary portrait of a poet who both transcended his time and was shaped by it and whose ability to live, love, and mourn without reservation produced some of the most enduring verses.

Story
Sam Vimes is on a well-deserved holiday. But for the commander of the City Watch, a vacation in the country is anything but relaxing. The balls, the teas, the muck - not to mention all that fresh air and birdsong - are more than a bit taxing on a cynical city-born and -bred copper. Yet a policeman will find a crime anywhere if he decides to look hard enough, and it’s not long before a body is discovered, and Sam - out of his jurisdiction, out of his element, and out of bacon sandwiches (thanks to his well-meaning wife) - must rely on his instincts, guile, and street smarts to see justice done.

The End... Ish
Reviewed: 07-26-24
Wow. Been loving this series since the first book. I must admit that I was a bit tired of Nolost, and found it hard to keep focused during the first half of this book. New places and characters and running around every few pages made it feel like we weren't gonna be done any time soon. But alas, the end was here! And it was as good as I could've hoped for. Loved the series, despite its bumps, loved the characters, and the fast pased action. Thanks Edward W. R and Tim Gerard for bringing this great adventure to life!

Story
Zen Master Tales collects never-before-translated stories of four prominent Zen masters from the Edo period of Japanese history (1603–1868). Drawn from an era that saw the “democratization” of Japanese Zen, these stories paint a picture of robust, funny, and poignant engagement between Zen luminaries and the emergent chonin or “townsperson” culture of early modern Japan. These masters affirmed that the essentials of Zen practice could be conveyed to all members of Japanese society in ordinary speech, including even comic verse and work songs.

Story
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Started watching the show and liked so much that I started listening to the book simultaneously, and tho its a good book, I liked the show adaptation better. It's cleaner in some minor details, and more dramatic in very important moments.

Story
Somewhere on the frontier between thought and reality exists the Discworld, a parallel time and place that might sound and smell very much like our own, but which looks completely different. Particularly as it’s carried though space on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown). It plays by different rules. But then, some things are the same everywhere. The Disc’s very existence is about to be threatened by a strange new blight: the world’s first tourist, upon whose survival rests the peace and prosperity of the land.

Good, but probably not the place to start
Reviewed: 09-20-23
I started Discworld with "The City Guard" and Death's series, having fallen in love with those I decided to start in chronological order. As many others, I also wouldn't recommend to dive into the marvels of Discworld with "The Color of Magic", it's not bad at all, but it's definitely not as good as the others.
By starting here one my run the risk of not continuing and missing out on the fun, philosophical and often times deep parts of this world, and that would be a shame.
So I recommend to start with "Guards Guards" if you like police novels in a fantasy setting, or with "Mort" if you prefer the more metaphysical concepts, and once you're a few books in and you're immersed and in love with the world, come back here if you want to see where it all started.

Story
For a policeman, there can be few things worse than a serial killer loose in your city. Except, perhaps, a serial killer who targets coppers, and a city on the brink of bloody revolution. For Commander Sam Vimes, it all feels horribly familiar. Caught on the roof of a very magical building during a storm, he's found himself back in his own rough, tough past without even the clothes he was standing up in when the lightning struck. Living in the past is hard, especially when your time travel companion is a serial killer who knows where you live.
