An all-new Dresden Files story headlines this urban fantasy short story collection starring the Windy City's favorite wizard. From the Wild West to the bleachers at Wrigley Field, humans, zombies, incubi, and even fey royalty appear, ready to blur the line between friend and foe. In the never-before-published "Zoo Day", Harry treads new ground as a dad, while fan-favorite characters Molly Carpenter, his onetime apprentice, White Council Warden Anastasia Luccio, and even Bigfoot stalk through the pages of more classic tales.

Nothing Beats Butcher/Marsters!

Jim Butcher's wonderful characters are given such life and voice by Mr. Marsters! If you are a big fan, you may already own most of these stories, as I do (& Julia Whelan, another of my favs, gives Molly Carpenter almost as great & special a voice as Mr. Marsters does!!), but ZOO DAY is worth the cost!

Story
"I believe there is another man inside every man, a stranger...." writes Wilfred Leland James in the early pages of the riveting confession that makes up "1922", the first in this pitch-black quartet of mesmerizing tales from Stephen King. For James, that stranger is awakened when his wife, Arlette, proposes selling off the family homestead and moving to Omaha, setting in motion a gruesome train of murder and madness.

LOVE STEPHEN KING'S
Reviewed: 10-29-17
I have been buying and enjoying Mr. Kings books for more than 40 yrs; until e-readers, my house was wall to wall hard covers with one wall d3voted to his books. I have always, with the exception of Green Mile & The Stand, loved his short stories best! These were a quality the younger author could not have written, nor even imagined; I have found one thing nearly impossible to imagine is the change in perspective and causes of horror that age brings with it. No matter how bright or talented, 30 cannot fully imagine 65! He has used his time to great effect. The narrators, especially Ms. Hecht, added much to these stories. Mr. King has always had a distinctive "voice", which is why the foray as Richard Bacchmqn didnt work; as a "constant reader", I recognized him as if it were a phone call, in less than 2 pages! His voice does not lend well to his female characters;Ms. Hecht made it her own brilliantly. I didnt know if I would enjoy his books in the Audible format, but she won me over. Candace Smith

I started my Dallas&Rourke stories with paperback&hardback books, more than 25 of them, when I could Afford them, and hold them. Since being disabled, I have addes 4 or 5 on Kindle. This will be my only Audible copy until or unless I lose all vision.
THE NARRATION WAS LIKE NAILS ON A BLACKBOARD 35-50% OF THE TIME!!!
The absolute worst was Peabody: she was verbally portrayed as a 70 yr old maiden aunt from one of the 5 boroughs, not a young & bouncy 20something cohabing with her technogeek BF!
This is the first book where the narration has been annoying to me.

If Sookie #9 & 10 DONT make you cry, you either1) have no heart, or2) haven't been paying attention to the good character developement that is so essential to great novels! The only thing I DONT like is Ms, Harris' obvious homophobiia showing in stark contrast with the compassion shown to, for instance the Romanov child: how can love as an emotion EVER be called sick?

I don't know if this should be considered sci-fi or if, like Diana Gabaldon's
novels, they need a separate category: fiction multiple personality mystery?
Either way, I thoroghly enjoyed this, & wish there were more. As a RN for
more than 30 yrs. I have KNOWN people similar, but not as coherant!

I don't usually bother with zombies - they make no sense & so I can't suspend disbelief enough.
The villian here isn't the point, and the story is worth it. Especially nice backstory from another characters point of view.
