At Last !!!

An absolutely Wonderful read. I have been a Sookie fan since Ms Harris wrote the first book,(a very long time ago) and I was so pleased that she lightened up a little with this one. The last few books have been so very dark with little of the humor that makes Sookie the lovable character that I so enjoy. With this book you get some darkness in the plot line but the humor is there and the ending is upbeat. Thank You so much for a Great listen !!!!

Thoroughly Enjoyed It!!!!

Where does Dead In the Family rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was good, up there with the others...this has been a great series!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked it all, especially how well Sookie handles all the weird situations she finds herself in...she has really grown!

What does Johanna Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a great Sookie!! I feel listening is always the best way to go!!!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I almost did, and YES!!!

Any additional comments?

I am going on to #11 soon, and recommend this series to anyone and everyone....I really am sad I am almost done with it!!!

Ahhh

Although lighter in intrigue than previous books, I think Sookie and Eric fans needed the break. Johanna Parker does a fabulous job bringing the story to life once again. I am already longing for the next book.

Had high expectations

I'm a huge Sookie fan I have read all of the books! Don't get me wrong this was a great read I just had high expectations for the story line. There could have been a lot more sookie & eric romance in the book I'm over the fairy's and want more romance for sookie and eric. I can't wait for the next books, I read that Charlaine Harris signed on to write 3 more!!!

Sookie is back.

I liked it. It isn't Shakespeare but Harris isn't aiming for it. If you want something more esoteric try Stieg Larsson's Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I own all of these books, mostly the audiobooks. To me Johanna Parker IS Sookie, how could you ask for a better narrator for these books? Even if Eric is getting a little wimpy (what is with that?) at least most of the fairies are gone. After the last book I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with the series. I mean, a Fairy War? Evil fairies? Laughable. After sitting through that book I kind of felt like I had been tortured right alongside Sookie. This book is better.
Besides, if you're addicted to these books you know you're probably going to bite the bullet and buy it, right? I mean, it's THAT kind of series...

Loving it!!!

I love these stories all my life even when vampire weren't popular. But now they are the new in thing there are so many more books out there. I've been watching the True Blood series and now reading the books. Charlaine Harris is a great author can’t wait to see what comes next from her.

Excellent!!!

This book is a wonderful continuation and transition book for the series. There was closure on some ongoing themes and building of others as well as the drama within. Charlaine has done a magnificent job of character building from book one. Her ability to develop the relationships and the interlocking of characters is fantastic to follow. I am so pleased with this addition to the series! I do suggest that the series is read in sequence so the reader may fully appreciate it.
Joanna Parker has done the best job on this book as a narrator. Some of her earlier books had flaws and a lack of continuity in voice inflection and accent. She has done very well here!

Too much family drama

Of all the books in the series this is the weakest one. This felt like a short story. There were too many small storylines and no central story. There was too much going on yet nothing really happened. The only good thing about this book is that Sookie and Eric got closer. I love this series so I will return for the next book. Hopefully there will be more action.
