Story
When Lily is freed from alien captivity, she refuses to wait for rescue - or recapture. She'll take her chances in the forest. Navigating the exotic terrain won't be easy, but it beats the alternative. Then, an enormous alien falls into her camp and makes her question everything. He's rude, grumpy, and annoyingly sexy. Trusting him would be a mistake. And yet...the idea of leaving him behind hurts way more than it should.

The narrator was amazing as usual. I did read more from this author after my initial “Dnf-ing” of this book and did enjoy the experience. It took me months to “finish” this book. I skipped many chapters because of the fmc. *spoilers*
Initially, I thought it was extremely unrealistic that she could survive with ease in this new place based on her earth survivalist abilities barely poisonous plants, no insect issues, no crazy animal issues, no problem. Then the person that’s lived on this planet for his entire life doesn’t know anything about the wildlife. By the time they get to the sexy times, I want him to leave her there and save himself instead. I was only about half way through by this time. Then the wildlife ends up gravely injuring her.
I can’t stand a liar but I understood at least why he lied. And while a good grovel is necessary the man had to go through hell from hello. I ended up skipping most of it because I was going from annoyed with fmc to hating her. When the court scene comes she still has to be guilted into saving him, and the thought that him being willing to sacrifice himself needlessly fills her with love? HUNH? I couldn’t even be happy for them. I only came back to this book because I thought I missed some happenings when I skipped it but I should’ve just let it ride. Some of the other books I’ve listened to many times but this one. Hard pass.

Impatiently waiting…

I absolutely judged this book series by its cover and ended up purchasing it on a whim. I’m so glad I did because it is excellent. I’m impatiently waiting for book 3 and will likely read it to out myself out of my misery. But also the narrators were amazing.

Never did Sabina Burrell imagine that foiling a plot against her sister would lead to her having to wed the arrogant Sir Jeffree de Crecy. She has never met such a loathsome man, and that included her late husband.

Oh Sabina.
Reviewed: 10-29-24
I’ve seen authors attempt this almost ptsd-like mentality and it can be repetitive and drag the story. This is not that. Sabina’s character is very well written in the way that it’s not her constantly thinking the same ‘I’m unworthy’ thought more than she thinks it once or so and her actions support it. But girl! It was like experiencing someone running a race in mud. She needed a therapist. It’s not my favorite FMC from AC, but Alice owes me nothing. I will still listen over and over again.

From the moment my fangs began to drip with life spirit, I have known I wanted a mate. One to love. One to care for. A female that will be mine. But as the moons pass by, the fates have denied me. Until I see her. She is different. She is human. And she is vulnerable. More vulnerable than I could have ever imagined. But she is mine. Mine to cherish, mine to keep, and I will do everything in my power to let her know that the moment I laid my eyes on her, she became the reason I breathe.

I reluctantly purchased this book because I was worried based on the first books heroine. I am happy to say that this book was excellent. There was adventure, the heroine was sweet, determined and brave, and the couple together was sweet and spicy. I am excited to hear what happened to the rest of the crew!

I liked the premise of the story. It was a little brutal at the beginning. It still pulled me in and I liked the variety of heroines. I am beginning to realize that a lot of these heroines have little to no self esteem. It’s a frustrating trope that drags the story for me. Self esteem would have little to no bearing on anything if you were a person surviving alone in an entire universe and yet it’s a consistently used storyline 😩. No one in survival mode is that magnanimous. But ok. Outside of that, it was a good story.

Story
Harper Hollingsworth wasn't looking for a friend. She wanted peace and quiet. Someplace to lose herself in a book and not think about being a misfit; not think about her coven or her disconnect from the craft as her mother taught it. She didn't want to think about her lack of magical ambition, as she was regularly told by her mother's poison-tongued familiar, and more than that—she didn't want to feel. Anything.

Was it finished?
Reviewed: 07-21-24
I was interested to see where this went but it felt unfinished. We don’t find out answers to most of the questions like why that familiar is so sneaky or why the other one hates the mom’s familiar does she find her community! What happens to the coven? Does the kelpie ever attack? It just stops just before things would likely start to pick up. Was this a part one? I’m a little confused.

These books were action packed with delicious sprinkles of erotica. I love the readers voices. The guy has a deep rumble and the woman makes the erotica sound Devine. I love the author. It’s sad that I don’t see her in my local library but I love how smooth her stories are.

Story
Gwen doesn't want anyone to know she's a siren. She doesn't want anyone to know she's terrible at her job either. Perhaps least on her list of priorities, Gwen would also like to avoid the gargoyle who saw her vibe in the TSA check. Except, the very same gargoyle is the new manager she has to work with, and he's going to the same corporate retreat she is. He reminds her too much of her past and exactly the career-driven sort of guy she can't stand from Fortune 666 companies.

Alice doesn’t miss
Reviewed: 12-12-23
Sometimes with longer books, it’s easy to get side tracked and miss things, but not with Alice’s writing. She has a way of thrusting her characters together, even when they are surrounded by others. There is a sweet intimacy between these two that had me deeply invested. From start to finish I 💯% would recommend.
