Story
When Adanne accepts a last-minute job as a makeup artist for a movie filming in her small Alabama hometown, all she wants is a steady paycheck to keep her family’s legacy alive. But the money hardly seems worth having to face the actor who got her fired from her last job in Hollywood.

At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about their love story unfolding. But, Jenny writes with such authenticity that her words illuminate how love has the power to bridge unexpected gaps. I love the vulnerability blended with wisdom laced throughout the book. I enjoyed watching two culturally different words not only collide, but complement each other.

Story
It is the story of 11-year-old Pecola Breedlove--a black girl in an America whose love for its blond, blue-eyed children can devastate all others--who prays for her eyes to turn blue: so that she will be beautiful, so that people will look at her, so that her world will be different. This is the story of the nightmare at the heart of her yearning and the tragedy of its fulfillment.

Story
Jamie Foxx has won an Academy Award and a Grammy Award, laughed with sitting presidents, and partied with the biggest names in hip-hop. In Act Like You Got Some Sense, Jamie shares up close and personal stories about the tough love and old-school values he learned growing up in the small town of Terrell, Texas; his early days trying to make it in Hollywood; the joys and challenges of achieving stardom; and how each phase of his life shaped his parenting journey. Hilarious, poignant, and always brutally honest, this is Jamie Foxx like we’ve never seen him before.

Jamie Foxx just made me remember why I love Audible. His narration was so good, I'm afraid it might make it hard to remain engaged while listening to other books. I was captivated from the start, and sad when it was over. Every impersontion was spot on. I loved all the stories involving his grandmother. His daughters are blessed to have a dad who is so transparent about his past.

Story
Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what, and how we should be. We are led to believe that if we could only look perfect and lead perfect lives, we'd no longer feel inadequate. So most of us perform, please, and perfect, all the while thinking, What if I can't keep all of these balls in the air? Why isn't everyone else working harder and living up to my expectations? What will people think if I fail or give up? When can I stop proving myself?
