I really liked this adaptation. If you have already read the book, the only thing that may bother you is the pronunciation of names. This made me want to read the whole series again.

Story
On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight.

This is a great adaptation of the original text. I found the background music to be distracting as it just didn't fit. Arland didn't sound Savage enough. Otherwise, it was a fun listen.

Just ok
Reviewed: 12-28-21
The second installment for this series was just ok. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was reading it rather than listening to it. I have listened to this author/narrator combo before with little complaint. It seems that trying to sound tough and Southern at the same time is just not possible!

My name is Calliope and "I bone for a living." Kidding. I am studying to be a paleontologist though. It's the only thing I've ever wanted to be, and I have finally landed the perfect museum internship to make all of my dino-loving dreams come true. Trouble is, everyone wants me to be a gentle, loving sort of creature, but I'm more of the T-Rex type by nature - the kind who is determined to stomp and tear her way through any obstacle in order to get what she wants.

Story
Del Sol, New Mexico is known for three things: its fry-an-egg-on-the-cement summers, its strong cups of coffee - and, now, a nationwide manhunt? Del Sol native Sunshine Vicram has returned to town as the elected sheriff - thanks to her adorably meddlesome parents who nominated her - and she expects her biggest crime wave to involve an elderly flasher named Doug. But a teenage girl is missing, a kidnapper is on the loose, and all of this is reminding Sunshine why she left Del Sol in the first place.

Great story with twists and turn and lots of heart

If it is written by Darynda Jones, it should be in your library. This is hopefully the first installment in a series about a law enforcement officer named Sunshine. She is a single mom and both she and her daughter have eventful first days in their new environments. Sunshine must track down a kidnapper, face her past and come to terms with a past romance that might not be so past after all. Her daughter is facing challenges of her own in a new school and helping unearth clues about her kidnapped friend. Great read and narration was well done.

These stories are so well written you can imagine yourself visiting the farms right along with the good vet. This is first in a series by James Herriot and they are all worth reading and listening to. Narration is by Christopher Timothy who played the part of James in the British television series based on the stories. I found myself laughing as well as wincing along with the narrator. Great purchase! Well written and well narrated.

Story
If people have polar opposites, Luca Rossi is mine. His butt is in the baseball hall of fame. Mine's comfortably seated in the hall of lame. When he's not snagging fly balls out in center field, he's modeling in shampoo commercials. I once jammed my own finger while stirring cookie dough, and sometimes I forget shampoo is a thing. He's a total cynic when it comes to love. I make a living writing love stories. But after my latest broken engagement (no, I don't want to talk about how many times that's happened), it's clear he's exactly the man I need.

There is something living in the swamp. It is up to Catalina and Alessandro to figure out what it is, and how to neutralize it, all while tracking down a murderer. Story has lots of action with a romance and family feelgoods mixed in. Leon may be my next favorite character! If Ilona Andrews wrote it, it should be added to your library. Narration was well done.
