the ending to book 4 was painful. and the journey through this one was actually worse. needlessly lovey dovey. loaded with filler. petty nonsense everywhere.
like a mound of noise you skip about half the chapters in the way to the ending and actualy lose nothing in return

Story
When quiet Orrin and his extroverted best friend, Daniel, were transported to a strange RPG-based world, not much changed between them. Daniel became a hero of legend, while Orrin remained his unobtrusive shadow. Only when they faced a particularly lethal foe did Orrin step out of his comfort zone and display his true worth—with powers he didn't know he had. Of course, Daniel got all the glory, but Orrin doesn't mind. He's just happy they're both still alive.

lol I can't beleive I even got this far to be honest. imagine accusing your best friend of having rapey intentions with elves. white knight complex. etc come on man. does the mc HAVE to stop every few chapters to lecture somebody about some shit he overthought about. like the mc isn't even an especially good rolemodel. Just a judgey wannabe pyschiatrist with his entire head lodged in his own rectum. this book is the culmination of a lack of self awareness combines with the lack of awareness on how other people's feelings work. the performance is lovely tho. the author not so much.

Story
Something always goes sideways, but this is bigger than expected. Maybe it's not an entirely bad thing, though, as mana-infected animals spreading over the world would definitely make everyone more open to the idea of the apocalypse. The question is what was Silas supposed to do about it, though. He still couldn't tell anyone who wasn't inducted about the system. It was time to get creative. If that wasn't enough, though, he still had the wild hunt hanging over his head. Seven days to go, and then he'd be thrown into whatever twisted event the system had cooked up for him.

the longer the story heads out the farther you are from conclusions to the vary base hooks of interest.
this story is all empty calorie. like watching someone play a video game. listening at 1.2 is a balm. but this story has the depth of a youtube movie recap. only less happens.

Trapped in a new world. Targeted by everyone. He can either run, or embrace the mayhem! Ben finds himself stuck in the beta of Mayhem, forced to be an evil elf character by the system AI. Their race is universally hated due to their lust for destruction, bloodshed, and world domination, so, he’s understandably a bit irritated. His buddy Chip and his Rainbow Unicow Bessie, on the other hand, couldn’t be happier. Extreme violence is right up Chip’s alley and seeing as Bessie has gotten a taste for human flesh, she’s totally up for the bloodshed bit.

essentialy all the cool stuff that happened didnt happen. a very "the friends we met along the way" ending. wouldve been happy if powers existed to some degree after the conclusion but no. unfortunately fun was not on the menu. lots of mid emotional yammering though. it had some impact. but it seems like writing is something the author does for a living. not lives to do. charming concept work. reliably unpredictable to some degree, just unsatisfying
