Not bad.

I like the overall plot and the different races. I like that the politics were limited to their relevance to the story. I don't think the author is as masterful at writing as other authors that I read, but the writing is still OK. I didn't like the narrator. he uses the same patterns of speech over and over again and it got a little monotonous.

With Kafka on the Shore, Haruki Murakami gives us a novel every bit as ambitious and expansive as The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, which has been acclaimed both here and around the world for its uncommon ambition and achievement, and whose still-growing popularity suggests that it will be read and admired for decades to come.

Harry Dresden, Chicago's only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Recent examples: A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards...Hit men using Harry for target practice...The missing Shroud of Turin - and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss.

What a perfect ending to one of the best worlds of fantasy ever produced! Brandon Sanderson did such a fantastic job at finishing out the series. Both narrators were amazing throughout, and the duality of narration elevated the experience. I don't know what I'm going to read next, but moving on to something else will be like climbing down from the peak of Dragonmount.
