About this listen

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden has had a rough couple of weeks. As the only openly practicing professional wizard in the Chicago area, he has squared off against a multitude of supernatural bad guys. Harry has won the day against demons, poltergeists, sorcerers, trolls, vampires, werewolves, and even an evil faerie godmother. You might think nothing could spook him. You would be wrong.

Something is stirring up angry apparitions all over town. Something that can break all the laws of supernatural physics. Something that doesnt like Harry. His closest friends are being targeted. The net is closing in. Harry must find a solution soon or find this is one Nightmare from which he will never waken.

I loved the story and the reader is actually quite good. I love his characterizations and voices. But I find it very distracting when he repeatedly mispronounces words like 'dais' and 'writhing'. Isn't someone listening to him as he reads? Does anyone involved with this production claim English as their native language? IS THERE NO QUALITY CONTROL?
SHAME!

It bugs me when the reader mispronounces words!

Great to meet Michael... Hope for more w him. Also look forward to learning more of Fairy Godmother backstory. James Marsters does a great job with the performance.

I'm really enjoying the series

What did you love best about Grave Peril?

I loved the entire book. Well written, lots of unexpected twists, lots of drama, perfect narration! If you're a Dresden fan, or just like fantasy/sci-fi or mystery novels, you will love it.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was excellent. Emotional, dramatic, unexpected twists, perfect!

Which scene was your favorite?

I honestly can't say. There were too many that I liked. It was really just an all around great book.

Any additional comments?

I'm picky about books. I love them, it of they don't capture my attention in the first few minutes, chances are I won't finish them. This book grabbed me immediate, didn't let go till the end, and left me wanting more. Excellent!

Excellent all around!

The writing and performance in this audiobook are both outstanding. I've read the whole Dresden series, but listening to them is a whole new treat.

Dresden is always entertaining

I am of the opinion that this is the first book in this series, even thought it is actually the third. This book contains the first part of the overarching plot that extends through the next eight books. If you are new to the series, start here.

Good book

I don't know why.... It seems like in every single book the All-powerful wizard gets his butt kicked by beings that never lose any of their energy and end up having to be defeated by some clever ploy.... Good series for passing the time but by far nothing truly Unique or gripping happens in these books..... I'm always left with A-OK I'll go back to this one... Or not feeling..... It's definitely not a page Turner....

good story...drags in places

If you have listened to earlier books in the series you will know that its narrator has a regrettable tendency to whisper. This trait is still evident in this book, though much improved from the first two. In regards to the story it is one of continual twists & mistakes piling upon mistake for our hero. The failures and successes combine to give this book a bittersweet feel, like pure dark chocolate. Enjoy!

Narrator had issues with volume. Could hardly hear the story at some parts. But good story nonetheless, like all the Dresden books.

Minor issues, but still a good book.

Yet another good Dresden story. I really can't complain. There are a couple of errors that Marsters makes, but that's just how things go with some audiobooks.

Very Good
