Story
The machine races demand a turn at the job, but the organics refuse to allow it. For more than a century, the Galactics have battled for supreme power. War and instability reign in place of peace, with every species spread over a hundred billion stars suffering as the Empire decays. James McGill discovers a scheme is underway. A new power is rising, determined to snatch the Throne from all the rest. Will this unite the Galactic Empire, or destroy it utterly?

Same book as last time but the story is getting kinda old now. I would love a bigger plot twist or some sort of progression to the main character etc.
still a great book doh, just afraid I’m gonna get tired before he reaches the end

Story
It was not his fight. But he will still be the one to end it. The galaxy remembers Hadrian Marlowe as a hero who burned every last alien Cielcin from the sky. The man remembers how he tried to save them - to negotiate with them, to learn more of them - and how his attempts were frustrated by his own side and creatures stranger still than any Cielcin he'd encountered thus far. Hadrian Marlowe's path might have ended in fire...but the road to it was winding and leads through intrigue, and battle, to war.

A neverstarting story
Reviewed: 03-31-24
This is the second book in this series that I’ve read and it promises grand epic adventures, but it still delivers less than mediocre. The books describe in detail the struggles of our hero, but it never really starts. It’s like Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part of 1 (the campingtrip) only 10xworse.

Story
Forced into early retirement, the former sergeant crawled into a bottle and stayed there, moving from planet to planet, looking for some reason to keep on living. Until, that is, he wandered into a bar owned by an old marine buddy who offered to help. Curiosity was Decker's other major failing and in short order he was on the run, hunted by a shadowy government organization, and in possession of a secret that could destroy the Commonwealth. It was a secret to die for, and the people on his trail wanted to make sure he did.

Story
Rigel is a thousand lightyears farther from the Core Worlds than Earth, so they suffer the first attacks. The mood at Central is jubilant. Our greatest rival is falling—now is the time to strike while they’re weak! Legion Varus is deployed to Jungle World, a vital planet deep in Rigellian territory. Our foes, fighting on two fronts, are driven back with ease. But one man questions the wisdom of this move. Should Earth expand with greed, aiding new monsters from the Galactic Rim? That lone voice of reason comes from James McGill.

Story
After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. Jim has been given an opportunity, and he'll do his best to take advantage of it.

Story
My name is Kazimir Wolfe. People call me "Kaz", except they don’t. I never use my real name; it’s too dangerous, for me and for anyone I meet. I’m on the run from the law, who think I killed my aunt, and from whoever did kill her, because they want to finish the job. So, I move around a lot, working construction or whatever job I can find. It’s a lonely life. I don’t let anyone get close...people who get close to me end up dead. Why? I’m a wizard. The world’s only wizard, as far as I know.

The story might have some substance, but it gets drowned in pointless inner dialog and side story’s. 2-3 (maybe even 4) minutes about why the main character thinks he’s not Jack Reacher. That was the last straw for me.
We also get that to sidekicks are mindblown about new tech. We don’t need to get reminded every 10 mins.

Story
The Colour of Magic, the first novel in Terry Pratchett's wildly imaginative Discworld series, takes the listener on a remarkable journey. The magical planet of Discworld is supported by four massive elephants who stand on the back of the Great A'Tuin, a giant turtle swimming slowly through the mysterious interstellar gulf. An eccentric expedition sets out to explore the planet, encountering dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and, of course, 'The Edge' of the planet.

Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig. It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview - to see if I'd mesh with their "special" clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That's the definition of fitting in, right? I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they...offered me the job?
