This is probably the 3rd time listening to this series and it makes me laugh throughout the story. The main character was raised in a bubble and it’s just funny when he’s trying to figure out how normal people behave…

Story
The Earl of St. Merryn needs a woman. His intentions are purely practical - he simply wants someone sensible and suitably lovely to pose as his betrothed for a few weeks among polite society. He has his own agenda to pursue, and a false fiancée will keep the husband-hunters at bay while he goes about his business. The simplest solution is to hire a paid companion. Finding the right candidate proves more of a challenge than he expected.

I had started the free version but had to buy the updated 2 book set to get more context. So much fun to read! I love long books and wouldn’t change a thing.
Finishing the rest of the collection for sure.

I will pretty much read anything that keeps my attention. I had bookmarked this at Ch4 so I know I had started it in March. The story started out fine with a little girl and her pony so I thought “I wonder why I stopped reading?” Then I got towards the end of that chapter and UGH. There might only be 2 things I can’t abide… cannibalism and incest… so I opt out of this one and I’ll look through the thousands of available titles for a better read for me. The reader was great and it was well written, the story is just not to my liking.

Very well done. Audible addict since 2012
