The yearning!
Reviewed: 03-22-25
I love a good book with yearning, I do think the few love scene in the end was not appropriately needed but nonetheless it was still such a good book.

Amazing story and narrator!!!

I wish there was a TAD bit more world building but the slow burn for the romance was soooo good I’m in love. My first favorite of 2025; I must say, I hope there’s more soon!!!

Too short

I would have loved if this book was a few more hours long, it has a lot of potential and I felt like just as I was getting into it, it ended. Nonetheless, written beautifully!

Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College – Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is – unless she betrays the man she loves.

The voiceover

Reminded me a lot of dubbed anime, super dramatic and cringey at some points. I don’t tbh know I enjoyed the voices very much.
