About this listen

You are invited on the most powerful journey that you can take in your life: the journey from your head to your heart.

On August 11, 1938, Bill Wilson created the first 12-step fellowship. Since then, countless men and women have participated in this powerful program. Although associated with Alcoholics Anonymous, the spirituality of the 12 steps transcends multiple religious and secular traditions. This is truly a spiritual approach for everyone.

Now, renowned spiritual expert Fr. Anthony Ciorra, PhD, will guide you through the deep spirituality behind the 12 steps. Through 12 talks, you will embark on a transformative journey towards freedom. The author of Everyday Mysticism and recipient of the pontifical honor Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice, Fr. Ciorra helps you deepen your spirituality through a caring, thorough, and broad approach. The 12 steps offer freedom by getting to the heart of the most basic of human desires: happiness, peace, and inner freedom. You will understand addiction not simply as reliance on substances but as anything that stands in the way of the fulfillment of these desires. In some way we are all addicted to control, trying to orchestrate our lives and the lives of others according to our plans. Fr. Ciorra shows you how to let go of these false desires and embrace a deeper spirituality.

Embark on a pilgrimage that will lead you along the steps toward freedom and new life. By awakening the poet within you, you will find peace in your heart that the world cannot give.

to give up the hope for a better past

this is a good course. The teacher is a psychologist but also a Catholic priest, so that comes with some assumptions attached.
The course is balanced and the presenter is a good one: the main message in Twelve Steps Programs is also to give up the hope for a better past

It's okay but the title is misleading

The content is useful but it's VERY Christian. I don't have a problem with texts using Christian references but he heavily relies on scripture and uses concepts such as "the Kingdom of God". He does not speak of a God "as we understood him" but rather a monotheistic, anthropomorphic God.

A cover for a bunch of philosophical sermons

Other than referring to elements and parts of the history of AA, this presentation of a bunch of philosophical and religious concepts doesn’t follow the steps well at all.
