The wide range of words will speed up your learning process

I will start the whole process over again as I believe I will be as close to fluency as possible.

A great way to go from beginner to intermediate learner!

I had studied Russian for a year at university 40 years earlier, so I knew the basics, but didn’t remember much vocabulary. This was the first tool I used to expand my vocabulary, speaking ability, and understanding of Russian. I bought both the book and the audiobook. Sometimes I use both simultaneously, which I think is the best way. Other times, feeling a little less diligent, I just listen to the audiobook. But that is still great. I have since moved onto other methods, like watching or listening to video list, and listening to podcasts, but this is still my favorite way to learn, and I listen to it again and again. Excellent resource. Highly recommended!

Helpful

I found this audiobook and its accompanying PDF helpful. Some of the sentences surprised me because they weren't your typical textbook examples. They were concise and covered a wide range of topics: history, science, job-related activities, parenting duties, and some even seemed a little philosophical. They weren't choppy, boring and awkward like the way textbook or dictionary examples can sometimes be, where it always feels like some piece of the conversation is missing (in my experiences).

Words and Phrases

I started listening to this audio book and repeating what I heard. Repeating the words in phrases gives me comfort in knowing that should I need the repeat a phrase because they are common I could do it. The phrases are not really in an order that I can see so there might be one that tells you about what happened when you were walking then it goes to tell you about school. I would still recommend this book though since learning and travel and life can be everywhere it is always good to learn a little from everything.

Great for vocabulary build

I don't know why people are giving this book a negative review because it doesn't fit their skill level. This is an intermediate learning tool that helps fill in the cracks while giving you exposure to more complex sentences. The slow speed of the example sentences give me a chance to process the words and figure out their meaning. I probably have over a hundred hours into this book because I mostly just listen to it on the way to work but as they say in the intro, it is really important spend some time reading along. You will pick up the words much faster. If you want to learn grammar and verb conjugation then this isn't the book for you.

Makes things easier and fun

I have been learning Russian for two months now. I hesitated to get into this language because how everyone says it's so tricky, but I love a challenge, so here we are. At this point, I had some vocabulary, but I was struggling to understand anything barely when listening to natives talk, and I would struggle to form sentences. This book has helped very much with these two issues! I listened to the audiobook while reading the PDF simultaneously and learned the words and sentences quite fast. Also, the English translations are right there if you're struggling to understand the meaning of something.

Enjoyed this one very much, and recommend it to anyone learning Russian despite their level!

Effective review, more like top 10000 words

Probably the best audio book I've come across for Russian language teaching out of the 30 or so I've read.

Punchy and interesting sentences, clear English and Russian speaking by the same narrator so it's less clunky, and more like top 10,000 words as each example sentence has 3 or 4 additional high yield vocabulary words each time. Gets progressively harder as the book progresses, but never unreasonable.

ignore the bad reviews, legit a great resource

I already wrote a review, but after reading some of the negative ones I thought it necessary to expand on my comments even further. I genuinely believe this is one of the best singular resources available for learning russian. I have been learning seriously for over a year. I started off using duolingo 5 hours daily, which helped with very rudinentary vocab, but barely helped with dynamic listening (even if I knew all the words in a sentence, I wouldnt be able to "hear them" at normal speed). To increase my ability to hear words I know, I listen to 12 hour "learn russian in your sleep" youtube videos that help with picking up phrases and training my ear. I also practice speaking with natives on the regular. This resource is the most efficient way to pick up vocab. There are the 2000 specific words, along with anywhere between 1000 and 5000 additional unique words used in the sentences. If you ACTUALLY, want to learn russian to the same degree as you know English, this audiobook is irreplaceable. Yes, you will need to relisten to it multiple times. I listen to 6 chapters in n a row, then go back through all 6 until I know most of the words/ translations before the english is said. I probably wouldn't start with the audiobook if I know nothing about Russian, but it's the perfect way to go from lower-intermediate to upper-intermediate without being stranded in siberia for 10 years.

best series when starting a new language

I love this series by Lingo Mastery and it's one of my go-to-books for learning a new language. As an aspiring polyglot, I think it's something everyone should use to get up to speed on the most essential vocabulary.

Best format! PDF is everything! Made it fun!

I studied Russian in college several years ago and worried I'd completely lost it due to disuse. I've tried many books and videos to help me relearn including Rosetta Stone but this book helped the most! No frills, rewarding and comprehensive!
