About this listen

The daughter of legendary author James Lee Burke, Alafair Burke has built a considerable reputation for crafting taut mysteries herself. With 212, this former deputy district attorney pens a haunting tale investigating the terrifying realities of Internet anonymity.

When a student is murdered following a series of threatening messages posted on a college gossip site, NYPD detectives Ellie Hatcher and J. J. Rogan are assigned the case. As they dig deeper, however, they discover the victim was only one of many—and the killer isn’t finished.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Not really. It's what we've come to expect from Alafair Burke

What did you like best about this story?

The characters of Ellie and Jess Hatcher. I liked the easiness of their relationship and found it believable to have siblings that liked each other in the manner that they did.

Did 212 inspire you to do anything?

Not get murdered.

Any additional comments?

Good read, you'll enjoy it. Looking forward to more from Alafair Burke,

You grow to really like this series

I’ve learned that Alafair Burke’s books always serve up a surprise ending. This one had several surprises. I enjoyed it.

212—A good listen

Eliza Foss did a great job narrating this book. This is my second book by Alafair Burke and I enjoyed it. This is my first book in this series about "E. Hatcher" the female police detective. I found myself going the "long way" on my walks just so I could listen longer. Great story lots of action.

Do not misunderstand I liked the story and it has an unexpected twist at the end, it just took to long to get there. It could have been about one hour shorter if the author had moved things along between the murders a little faster.

Good twist at the end.......But

"212" was the second of Ms. Burke's novels for me ... the story grabbed my attention from the first few minutes ... I found myself sitting in the driveway listening way more than I normally do ... definitely made my commute enjoyable!

Great story, and a good team of author & narrator

I don't mind a slow moving story if it's interesting. but I found most of this book tedious. The narration certainly added to the dull drums.

Disappointing

It seems that James Lee Burke's daughter can write a decent cop thriller! 212 is not great but it is quite good. The novel is set in New York city. The plot is complex and the killer is a surprise. Character development is weak.

My first Alafair Burke novel

Great twists and turns. Well written, the narrator was very good.

Great Book

Another great novel by Alafair Burke. Enough false leads to keep you guessing until very late in the story.

Great ending - keep guessing

Too many things have to line up to make this story believable. Sloppy too. Girl says "he can't know what I look like... I'm safe", forgetting she sent him her picture that same day! I've read/listened to every Alafair Burke books but only when I need a really cheap, relaxing, non-taxing moment. This is the last book of hers that I'm going to pay for!

Coinkidinks?
