Critic reviews

"Carolyn McCray's 30 Pieces of Silver proves that Dan Brown's crown is up for grabs. Part minefield and all roller-coaster ride, here is a story as controversial as it is thriller. Hunker down for a long night because once you start this book you won't be putting it down." (James Rollins, New York Times best-selling author of Bloodline)

Good Book bad narrator

Few things bother me moor than constant pronunciation errors. Come on folks donot be in such a hurry that no one corrects glaring errors.

Entertaining but predictable story, horrible narration

Terrible narration. Sounded like a movie trailer the entire time. It cheapened the story so much that it made it almost comical at times. Poor audio levels and obvious editing. Don’t even get me started on the ridiculousness of the “accents” for the different characters…

Horrible Narrator- Save the credit!

The character voices were absolutely horrific! Most of the men either sounded like Yoda or ridiculous cartoon characters. If I hadn’t been invested in finding out how things ended, I would’ve stopped listening. It took a great deal away from what the story could have been. Read the book and save the credit!!! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!

Narrator was awful almost ruined this story.

Even though the narrator was terrible, I stuck with it because I really wanted to know where she was going with this thing.Enjoyed most of the characterization but again almost was ruined by the narrator.

Narrator kills the store.

What disappointed you about 30 Pieces of Silver?

The narrator and the editing. Worst editing job I have every heard. On top of his performance it was unbearable.

Would you be willing to try another one of Don Hoeksema’s performances?

No! Any book that he "performs" I will not listen.

love the story, loathe the narration

the story is fun and exciting. I know this because I read it on paperback years ago. The narration here is so hard to follow. the performance makes it easy to tune out the story.

Disappointing

I have read the book before and loved it. Yes it is controversial but the warnings are there, so why did they leave out half the story?

Enjoying the story, not caring for the naration...

What would have made 30 Pieces of Silver better?

A different narrator.
There is no consistent volume or tempo to the reading, words are mispronounced, and it sounds like there is a speech impediment. There is no recognition of separate paragraphs. It's all verrry distracting from the story, which itself is pretty good.

What did you like best about this story?

The theological wonderings.

Would you be willing to try another one of Don Hoeksema’s performances?

Not really.
