About this listen

I was at a crossroads of my mommy-hood. As a child, I always planned on being an incredible mom, creating an environment where children thrive.

As I reviewed my present days, I felt like my life was commonplace and minute. My daily tasks seemed ordinary and repetitive. Where was the grander purpose in cleaning dishes and driving kids to soccer practice?

Quietly watching my friend Rebecca, I witnessed something different in her mothering. What kept her in good spirits each day? She displayed a quality I wanted. By the same token, she seemed to draw on an inner strength that I lacked. Finally, I had to ask. I never expected the journey that unfolded. A transformation of my vision.

A journey of discovery into the core of motherhood.

This is a really great resource if you're a mom (or anyone) that struggles with time management. Really sets a new perspective on accomplishments and how to create time where there is none.
It also really promotes the importance of gratitude for yourself and your life in a way that isn't heavy handed.

Inspiring and helpful read for time management and gratitude

I've read a lot of parenting books over the years and so when I saw the title to this audiobook, I'll admit I didn't think I'd glean much. Wow! I wish I had this little gem a dozen years ago when my kids were really little. I'm just grateful I can apply the principles now while they are still at home for a few more years. Not only do I feel validated in the thankless tasks I accomplish every day, I feel more inspired to make sure I prioritize the most important things in the moment. I want to recommend this book to every mom I know! Thank you Kate Burrlock!

Every mom needs to listen to this gem

After reading this book, I feel so validated in what I do and how much I do every day as a mom! Tired at the end (or middle) of the day with very few check marks on my to-do list. However, the invisible 5-minute tasks list is very long and and filled with check marks.

As Kate points out, many of the truly important elements of being a mom rarely make the to-do list. (snuggle a sad child, read a book with your kids, etc.) She shows a different way to look at what we accomplish each day and the immeasurable value it is in the lives of our families.

Inspiring read for all moms!

I appreciated this perspective on mothering. I felt like it was a logical and practical way to break down what we do each day, and then gives each task, no matter how seemingly mundane or unimportant, a chance to be recognized as something valuable that is contributing to the family's or child's overall well-being. Many things listed were cast in a light that I had never before valued but in hindsight, can see the value in now. I also feel like the window has been opened to the lives of other mothers - they are all living very much like me - doing little tasks every day that are building our children and our family.
