About this listen

The Golden Capstone atop the Great Pyramid at Giza offered protection from the global flooding and scorching sun that occurs every 4,500 years due to the Tartarus Rotation solar event. But Alexander the Great broke the Capstone into seven pieces and hid them in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Now, in 2006, another Tartarus Rotation is due, and whoever places the reconstructed Capstone on the pyramid in time will gain absolute earthly power. Everyone wants the Capstone - from the most powerful countries to terrorists - and one daring coalition of eight small nations who think that no single country should possess such awesome power.

Excellent Choice

This was an excellent choice. The writing is superb and fast paced, action filled. The narrator was wonderful, creating audible accent differences making it seem like there were multiple different speakers of this multi-national team.

Reads like a B movie

While it was entertaining at times, the author’s characters, plot, and odd take on international politics were that of a high school sophomore writing a fiction for English class. The narrator had an odd way of pronouncing some words and seemed to really struggle with maintaining an Australian accent.

My first Audio book where I think paper is better

Matter Reilly is an awesome storyteller and I have read all the Jack West series. This the first Audiobook (and I have plenty in the library) where I think paper is better than MP3. Maybe I can read at a faster pace giving me the feeling of an adventure... Just as it was written.... Anyhow I will try the next because the stories are truly wonderful... Just on tue edge of fantasy with lots of reality to ground the reader.... See you again later Jack. Steve

OMG

Hod on to your horses, because this book will bring you many sleepless nights!

One wonderful Rollercoaster, and history lesson at the same time. Not that you'll notice the amount of insane research that it must have taken, but it shows in the elaborate traps that our hero finds himself in.

Rejoice for this is the first in a series!

Never heard of Matthew Reilly.
Listened to it on a recommendation.
If you like Indiana Jones, and action movies this is a great listen.
Had a ton of fun listening to this, and it kept me wanting.

High Adventure

The story is big and takes an imagination to accept, itmagine low plausibility fiction as the cast tries to stop a world-wide calamaty from occuring. the narrator does ok with different accents, but I'm not particularly impressed. I am glad I listened, as it was a different type of fiction for me.

interesting introduction

The first book of this series, is the introduction to Captain West and his team. Where we meet and see how he leads us around Europe and Africa in the chase for the missing pieces of the cap stone to the pyramids of Egypt. I enjoyed reading the books some years ago, and look forward to listening to them via audible.
