Publisher's summary

For Hindus, Vishnu is God, who inspires man to discover humanity by engaging with the world. Artists have visualized him with as curlyhaired, dark complexioned man with a smile on his lips and a sparkle in his eyes. Draped in yellow silk, garlanded with forest flowers, bedecked with dolphin-shaped earrings, anointed with sandal paste, he reclines on a thousand hooded serpent that floats on an ocean of milk and rides a golden hawk bearing in his arms a conchshell, a wheel, a mace and a lotus. Poets say that when he is awake, the world takes shape; when he is asleep, the world ceases to be. Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, follows him wherever he goes. To him is made offerings of rich creamy butter. Sometimes, as the upright Ram, he is worshipped across India as Balaji, Shreenathji, Jagannath, Ranganath and Badrinath. Locked in the stories, symbols and rituals of Vishnu is the wisdom of the ancestors, transmitted over hundreds of years. This book attempts to unlock seven secrets that are relevant even in modern times.

Understanding of Vishnu

It is brilliant, it opens up your mind and allows you to see things from a different angle as well as talking about my favourite Hindu stories

Can never get enough Pattanaik

The man's a genius. Plain and simple. I've read many of his works at this point and I've never been disappointed. If you like Hinduism, look no further.

Good quick overview...

For someone who knows little of Hinduism this was a good quick introductory learner. While there are tons of names and new Gods and concepts, the book was pretty easy to follow and not overly complicated which was great.

Good read with accent by Arya.

7 Secrets Of Vishnu

I enjoyed this audiobook for it's lighter Philosophical nature than most books on Hinduism. Unlike Buddhism, Hinduism doesn't have a hundred and one books for beginners and a whole retinue of authors who make a living interpreting ancient scripture for you. I've spent the majority of my Spiritual journey reading 3,000-4,000 year old Vedic texts. And though I absolutely love reading the Vedas, Upanishads, Āgamas, Tantras, Puranas, Samhitas, and on and on and on seemingly for eternity.
And like I said, I enjoy reading the actual scripture and learning Sanskrit here or there.
But sometimes you just need something a little lighter once in a while, and the two 7-Secrets Books, Vishnu and Shiva, that I've read to date are truly excellent. Short, light and concise, but still deeply meaningful, thoughtful and Philosophical in nature. It truly was an enjoyable listen.
