About this listen

A Beautiful Funeral: A Novel is now a New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal best seller!

Losing has never been easy for a Maddox, but death always wins.

Eleven years to the day after eloping in Vegas with Abby, Special Agent Travis Maddox delivers his own brand of vigilante justice to mob boss Benny Carlisi. Vegas's oldest and most violent crime family is now preparing for vengeance, and the entire Maddox family is a target.

The secret Thomas and Travis have kept for a decade will be revealed to the rest of the family, and for the first time the Maddoxes will be at odds. While none of them are strangers to loss, the family has grown, and the risk is higher than ever. With brothers against brothers and wives taking sides, each member will make a choice - let the fear tear them apart, or make them stronger.

As always im team Travis even when he makes me soooo angry

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending. I can not believe that happened. Can we please get Jim and Diane's story???

All the pieces fit.

This book made me happy and sad. Seeing some of my all-time favorite characters all in one book was awesome but this book broke me just a little.

Best One!

I read Travis & Abby's books years ago. I found the Maddox Brothers on Audible just a few weeks ago. I have loved all the books, but Beautiful Funeral is by far my favorite! I love that this book brought ALL of the stories together. This is one of the best endings to a series I've ever read!

Sad but beautiful!

I did like this book, A LOT, but still so stinkin sad!! The Maddox family will always hold a special place with me and how Book families go. I hope Jamie writes more about this family too.

Voice performer male not good for this story.

The story is as wonderful as the others in this series. But the male voice in performance is just horrible. He has a way of “singing” every word or phrase. The female was much better but even then it was hard to hear the different characters voices from only one female or male performer. It would have been better to have the previous book’s performers do their own parts so that it helped keep with the greatness of the story.

Excellent job

Teri and Joe did a great job bringing this story to life!
They had a big job of voicing so many different characters and they made sure everyone sounded different enough that I was never confused who was talking.

Intricately woven story....well worth a listen

This is a series (unfortunately for me) I started with this one, the last in the series!! I have to read the others to get up to speed-- because McGuire has me that interested in going back to listen to the others! This book can be read as a stand alone because McGuire gives enough back ground information to keep you abreast of some of the complicated relationships between the characters. She did an absolutely STELLAR job of giving just enough information to keep the current story relevant, but, at the same time, makes you want to go back and read the story lines you have missed!

If you choose this listen, you will find the story synopsis was vague and no where near the intricacies of relationships between the characters. Two of the brothers are FBI and their cover has been blown making the entire family a target for the mob. What transpires as the story unfolds shows the emotional trauma that is family unfold as they realize that despite the hurt and what some of them considered betrayal, their only chance of survival is sticking together and fight for their lives.

Joe Arden always delivers a steady, excellent performance. This is my first listen to Ms. Schanubelt, but she also did a good job.

I recommend using a credit for this story. It is relevant, heart wrenching in some places and the character development is unparalleled! Well done Ms. McGuire!

Breathtaking

Audible gives you such a new perspective on a book. It brings such a real life to the story. I loved the book before, and it is only greater after audio!

Tears

Get out the tissues. I loved the entire collection of Maddox's. Jamie made a very strong family with them , warts and all . Best advice start from beginning and keep on to the end. Betting once you begin you're not to go to the end. Even reread as I do
