About this listen

She’s a city girl in Seattle. He’s a firefighter in a rainforest. This is never going to work…

Faith Benson isn’t your emergency contact, she’s the party-girl friend you call for a good time. She's the gal-pal who loves mimosas at brunch and martinis at Happy Hour. But her carefree lifestyle threatens her job at a top Seattle ad agency; there’s no one better at landing big accounts (when she shows up). But now her boss demands she take a leave of absence to get her head on straight.

Faith heads to the remote Hawaiian island of Kauai, far away from the vices that get her in trouble. A twisted ankle on Day One requires rescuing by a man who is vice personified—a gorgeous firefighter who awakens feelings in her heart she never knew existed.

Asher Mackey doesn’t get involved with beautiful tourists beyond taking them to bed and then watching them leave his tiny island. He’s devoted his life to the safety and care of everyone around him…except himself. Until he meets Faith Benson, the city girl whose vibrant, inner beauty shines a light on the dark corners of his life, showing him how safe—but empty—it truly is.

Despite their best efforts to keep their distance, Faith and Asher fall hard and fast, but there’s an ocean between them. Both are building their lives on opposite sides of the Pacific while their feelings for each other grow more profound and undeniable by the day.

Something has to give.

When Asher receives devastating news, he and Faith have to decide once and for all to entrust their hearts fully to the other or return to their safe—but separate—worlds. Because neither can endure much longer, living somewhere between hello and goodbye.

Between Hello and Goodbye is a contemporary romance about love, loss, and experiencing life in all its facets. It deals with sensitive topics that may be triggering for some listeners.

So heartwarming

This story has a lot more depth and emotion to it than I was expecting. What starts as an escape from her everyday life quickly turns into something much more profound for Faith Benson. In fact, her trip to the Hawaiian island of Kauai ends up changing her whole life.

Surprisingly unexpected

The book started out like a sweet love trope, but it went deeper than I thought it would. Then, the rug got pulled out and I was sobbing. Emma Scott’s writing brings you along for what appears to be some warm fuzzies and sizzle, and then, WHAM! The characters were brought to life by the voice actors, because they act! All in all, I wasn’t expecting the depth or to be moved by the characters. I was pleasantly surprised.

Beautiful Story

I really enjoyed this story line. Although the happy ending was predictable, the in between was not. The narration was good as well!

A beautiful story

Another beautifully written story by Emma Scott. This story really tugged at my heartstrings. Faith & Asher’s chance meeting led them both down a path that neither was expecting. So many highs and so many lows filled this story. I absolutely loved this story. A must read!! Desiree Ketchum & Teddy Hamilton did an exceptional job narrating.

Right Person, Wrong Time

This was my first Emma Scott book and I wasn't disappointed. We had a great meet cute between Faith and Asher in Hawaii and they had such a cute start to their relationship. I can only imagine the heartache and longing that can come between "right person, wrong time" relationships and these two just hurt me as they just keep missing each other. Asher goes through so much in this story and I wish Faith would choose more for herself in the story. But they have so much chemistry and the story flowed so well. I teared up at times and I adored the ending. The narrators for the audiobook -- Teddy Hamilton and Desireé Ketchum -- did an absolute amazing job with this story. So much emotion that they put into the characters!

Listen between the lines❤️

Between Hello and Goodbye By: Emma Scott
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Desireé Ketchum
Audiobook Rating:5/5
Story Rating: 4.5/5

This is my first time reading a book by this author, Emma Scott. This story was extremely beautifully done. Great contemporary love plot, likable characters and lovely description of location, Kauai, Hawaii. I mean, who doesn’t want to get lost reading being in Hawaii and experience that off the charts chemistry, eh? Overall, this story gave a ripple of emotions of heartache, reality of things, and the sensational beauty of Hawaiian culture.

Faith Benson: She was voiced by Desiree Kectchum. She did such a fantastic job with a great image of her being a city party girl and never on time but managed to keep it up at a float at her work place, ad agency, in Seattle, WA. Yet, it didn't take long for bad karma to catch up on her and her boss demands she take an absence of leave, a break from her partying ways…to go somewhere to clear her mind. (back on track, to be more responsible as an employee or life, in general). Desiree gave a lot of spunk for this character considering, as a reader/listener, I wouldn't give her a time or day. Yup, Desiree’s acting on Faith made me believe this chick isn't so bad after all and perhaps, I could relate with her. Ha!

Asher Mackey: He was voiced by Teddy Hamliton. He did an extraordinary job on this character because right from the start you do fall in love with him. He is not only a handsome firefighter coming to the rescue but the alpha protection is so darn sexy. Nevertheless, he has a strong attraction or chemistry to Faith but won't act upon it. Keeping his job professionally with Faith is a lost cause, though because in time, all hell breaks loose…well, very slowly, slow- burn romance. Teddy’s acting was like a smooth operator, so fitting and it's a bonus to have him narrate Asher.

Between the Hello and Goodbye plot made me sob a bit, it is such a heartfelt love story. It just shows that love bites but it can also be vibrant in the darkest hours. They might fall fast and hard for one another but it takes a lot of time to take a leap of faith to make things work. Teddy Hamilton and Desiree Ketchum ‘s audio performance was impressively radiant with one another. So, if you are looking for love, loss, and a healing process kind of story, this is it!
